At the request of readers of my books and visitors to the Couturier, each model has been assigned a level of difficulty.
There are five levels of sewing difficulty:
Elementary.
Simple.
Medium (medium difficulty).
High (high difficulty).
Pro (for professionals).
More about each.
Initial difficulty level
Assumes the absence of any cutting and sewing skills.
This is the level of beginners who have not sewn a single product.
An example of a product of this level can be considered a straight skirt or blouse based on a kimono.
In each of my patterns, I indicate the level of complexity of sewing a particular product. Children's patterns and many sewing patterns for beginners are published in the section with free patterns - you can download them for free and without registering on the site.
The main entry-level mistakes are: lack of accuracy in taking measurements, building a drawing and unwillingness to use an iron.
Easy level
This is for those who sewed a couple of products and were satisfied with their work.
The errors remain the same.
At this level, you can already learn to sew simple blouses without complicating elements.
Medium difficulty
For example, the practiced ability to sweep a sleeve, process a slip fastener, a pocket of “cutting barrels”.
Or process the upper cut of the skirt with a piping.
Products contain simple complicating elements.
High complexity
The name speaks for itself.
Products of a high level of complexity can only be sewn by people with developed skills and knowledge of sewing techniques.
An example of such complexity is a corset.
Professional level - pro
jackets, coats, as well as leather goods, evening dresses, etc.
Products of this level of complexity require professional tailor training.
Hobbyists trying to sew pieces for the pros run the risk of ruining the fabric.
