Sewing Difficulty Level: Easy - This coat pattern is for beginners.
The style of the coat is suitable for all types of figures and for both sexes, does not have a fastener, lining, selection and can be worn with or without a belt.

The consumption for gradation 40-52 will be approximately 2 - 2,2 meters of fabric with a width of 140 cm. And for gradation 52-62, the consumption increases to 3 meters. If you are going to cut from pile fabrics, then the consumption for large sizes will increase to 3,2 m. To calculate more accurately, it is recommended to lay out the patterns before purchasing the fabric.

For sewing a "hooded coat for beginners", it is advisable to use double-sided coat or double-sided raincoat fabrics. An artificial sheepskin coat, artificial leather, dense cloth, coat felt or similar fabrics are suitable. But, if you choose ordinary drape, tweed, boucle or wool, the processing of the product will become much more complicated.

According to the same pattern, you can sew products from fleece, footer or terry fabrics and use the product as a dressing gown.

How to cut a coat with a hood

Before cutting, a little boring theory about the share direction and seam allowances (picture 2).

The lobar back should be parallel to the center line - do not confuse it with the middle seam. The middle seam is an inclined line and in no case should it coincide with the shared one, otherwise the back will be tightened in the middle.

For convenience, you can make patterns for the back without cutting the middle line before cutting and, when laying out, navigate along it.

The lobar line of the shelf coincides with the semi-skid - the middle line of the shelf, which corresponds to the middle line on the human body from the jugular cavity and down through the navel.

The share thread of the sleeve should be located along the part, that is, the share thread is equidistant from the "vertical" sections. For convenience, you can fold the sleeve pattern in half lengthwise, aligning the cuts and smoothing the fold with your hands - the fold will correspond to the share.

Please also note that the hood can be one-piece or detachable. The cut line of the hood is marked on the pattern of the shelf.

If the hood is cut separately, then the lobar thread can be arbitrary or, its direction must coincide with the direction of the lobar shelf. The main thing is that the share does not coincide with the edge of the hood, it is better if it is "oblique".

If you decide to cut a coat with a one-piece hood, then do not forget about the notch, which will cut the seam allowances exactly to connection points of the shoulder seam and the hood.

As for seam allowances, if you are sewing a bathrobe from fleece or footer with a knitted seam, then they are not needed - boldly cut out all the details without seam allowances.

If this is a coat, then some allowances will still be needed. Add 1 cm along the “vertical” cuts of the sleeve, shoulder and side seams, along the middle seam of the back, hood flyaway and, if the hood is detachable, then along the seam of its stitching.

We cut out the sprout (the neck of the back), the armhole and the hem of the sleeve without allowances for the seams.

On the bottom of the coat and sleeves, as well as on the edge of the side, an allowance of 2,5 - 3 cm is needed only if you process these sections into a hem. If you will edging them or leave them unprocessed, then the allowance for the bottom of the product and sleeves is also not needed.

I also note that the different shape of the side of the shelf at the bottom implies different processing (picture 2). Available in obtuse, rounded and acute angle options.

A shelf with an obtuse angle is also convenient to process in a hem, with a rounded edge, with a sharp one - to process with a selection, and this isThis is not beginner level sewing.

Cutting features for large and small sizes, from different fabrics

Please note that large sizes (in which the shelf is wider than 69 cm) are cut out on the fabric folded across face inward (picture 3) and not along.

For cutting small sizes, the fabric is folded in half along the face inward, the edges are aligned (Fig. 4). To save money, you can cut out a sleeve with an additional stitch.

How to sew a hooded coat for beginners

Sew middle back seam and shoulder seams. Carefully iron

stitched seams.

Sew and iron the middle seam of the hood, and then sew the hood into the sprout.
