Body types are important to consider when choosing styles and proportions of clothing.

Dolichomorphic type - relatively long limbs and a short narrow body.

Brachymorphic - relatively short limbs and a long, wide body.

Mesomorphic - an intermediate type, the most proportional ...

It should be noted that there are many proportionately folded figures that go beyond the limits of average size and height, but their main dimensional features are equal to the same percentages as the figures of average ideal size and height.

In addition, along with the bone skeleton and muscles, the subcutaneous fat layer is of great importance in the structure of the external forms of the human figure.

The amount of subcutaneous fat and its location depend on a number of factors, and primarily on the sex and age of the person.

Thus, in women, the most intense deposition of fat is observed in the region of the mammary glands, in the anterior abdominal wall, in the upper thighs and on the buttocks.

According to the development of muscles and the presence of body fat, four groups of figures can be conditionally distinguished:

1. With uniform muscle development and fat deposition throughout the body (three types: thin, medium and thick).

2. With predominant fat deposition above the waist line (upper abdomen, breasts, upper arms) and increased fat deposition in the lower body (on the buttocks, thighs, legs).

3. With an uneven distribution of body fat - mainly on the trunk or limbs.

4. With increased body fat in certain areas of the body (for example, on the chest or buttocks).

You can talk about the classification of figures almost endlessly.

Every self-respecting teacher of cutting and sewing courses has his own classification, which is different from the rest.

And this is not surprising, since more than 800 types of human figures were counted by theorists developing computerized cutting systems for mass production.
