What to sew overalls and fabric consumption

For sewing, you can use any thin dense fabric that has a slight stretch.

Fabric consumption - 120 -140 cm with a width of 140 cm.

Lace or guipure for insertion on the back is suitable only for stretch ones with a scalloped edge.

Sufficient lace width 30 - 35 cm.

And the consumption of lace or guipure (we count along the scalloped edge) is 95 - 110 cm, depending on the size of the overalls.

Women's patterns have always been amazingly diverse. Therefore, getting into the trend of overalls with shorts could be predicted. But the guipure back turned out to be an unexpected and very elegant addition to this model.

It is she who represents the main difficulty in tailoring this style.

DIY pattern layout is very simple

The fabric is folded in half face inward and the edges are aligned.

Patterns are laid out taking into account the shared direction and allowances for seams.

The allowances for the side and shoulder seams of the back shelf, as well as for the side, step and (only in this case) waist sections of the shorts will be 1 cm.

On the bottom of the shorts - 3 - 3,5 cm, and on the bottom of the bodice add 4 - 5 cm.

Such a large allowance on the bottom of the bodice will help you very accurately determine the necessary overlap, which in this jumpsuit should be uneven - very small in front and quite large in the back.

We do NOT add allowances for the neckline and armholes.

We open the lace back by laying out the lace in one layer

If the width of the lace is not enough up to 5 cm, then this can be neglected, since it is important for us that the lace back goes into the shoulder seam, armhole and waist seam.

We lay the patterns on the lace in such a way that the scallops go along the cut that forms the neckline. The seam allowances are the same.

How to sew this women's jumpsuit step by step

Tailoring begins with the assembly of the bodice without guipure and shorts.

Trying on the bodice, we determine the size of the overlap, tying it with a linen elastic band.

Then, having swept away the bodice with shorts, we check the sufficiency of the overlap - it should allow the customer to sit.

If it is uncomfortable to sit, then it is necessary either to increase the overlap of the backrest, or to cut the line of the seat.

At the final stage of the fitting, we take on the guipure back and again check the product for convenience.

Since this product is offered for tailoring by already quite experienced couturier, I will allow myself only one piece of advice on processing armholes and necks.

In my opinion the best option overstitch neckline and armholes with bias tape.

Attention! not edging, namely turning.
