In times of crisis, many want to learn how to sew clothes with their own hands.
But we want everything at once, without leaving the computer, for free, without straining, and for everything to work out.
We type this query in the search and get thousands of false enticements: e-mail of tailoring and sewing courses, online seminars with “hereditary tailors”, video lessons from “fashion designers” and master classes from “famous couturiers” ... Lessons are boring, long , useless ... Technologies are outdated, models are old-fashioned ...
So what's the alternative? Attending costly and ineffective tailoring courses?
In fact, you can even start sewing without any skills. All you need is fabric, a typewriter, determination and a pattern of a simple product.
One of the most suitable products to start learning about cutting and sewing is a straight skirt (Fig. 1).

You can also stop at a simplified version of a straight skirt - a pencil skirt with a one-piece belt, the main thing is to follow the description of the cut and sewing of this model (Fig. 2).
It is very important to choose the right size - the buyer receives a gradation of 6 sizes (Fig. 3).
To do this, you just need to compare the patterns with your favorite skirt and choose the right one.

Mastering sewing according to ready-made patterns of clothes, you will gradually move on to more complex models and, if desired, you will be able to start cutting yourself.
Please note: you can start sewing without any skills in cutting technique, but you cannot start cutting without sewing skills.

Starting to cut yourself, you will need to acquire the skill

There is nothing difficult in taking measurements, but you need to understand that in order to form a skill, you will have to measure more than a dozen figures and each several times.
Measurements must always be taken in the same sequence.
Each measurement should be recorded. That's the only way you can get your hands on it.

Try to bring the skill of taking measurements to automatism. It's not too difficult.
The main difficulty lies only in the fact that it is almost impossible to take measurements from yourself, and your family will not be able to do this.
Therefore, in my opinion, sewing from ready-made patterns is a good alternative to cutting and sewing courses, as well as dubious sewing lessons from the Internet.
