People often ask how to alter a dress or jeans.

Bustier is one of the wonderful options for the second life of these things.

In addition, the bustier can be part of a dress with skirt sun or with skirt "Tatyanka"which are very popular this season.

Of course, the bustier pattern, which is only part of the dress or overalls, should be lengthened 3-4 cm down and mark the waistline on the figure.

How to choose the size is the first question you will face

In fact, the dimensions are determined by the half-girth of the chest (Cg), but in this case we will also need cup size.

To determine it accurately, measure the distance between the ends of the arcuate bones using your favorite bra - this will be the size of the cup.

Cup size number last: 42-50-13, 44-52-14, 46-54-15.

That is, for sizes 42-50, a cup with a diameter of 13 cm is offered, for sizes 44-52 - with a diameter of 14 cm and for sizes 46 - 54 - with a diameter of 15 cm.

How to cut a bustier step by step for beginners

Opening the bustier is very simple.

Seam allowances (picture 2): on a fastener or lacing, depending on the processing method from 1 to 3 cm, to the rest of the sections, including the details of the cup - 1 см.

If you fit the finished cup (see photo with pink striped bustier), to cover the cup, measure the width and height of the cup along the convex side and, add on 2 см from each side (picture 3).

When cutting lay the half-skid to the fold (picture 2). The details of the cup are optional.

We start sewing with stitching regilina or "pockets" for "bones"

The location of the "bones" in the graces

1. along the middle seam of the back on each side of the fastener;
2. half-slip two bones at a distance 0,5 см;
3. on distance 3 cm from the cup insertion curve;
4. on the back in the middle between the bones "1" and "3";
5. and under the calyx in the middle between the bones "2" and "3".

Attention! The bones should not reach the cuts of the bustier (grace) on 1 см.

Council

1. Before tuning or inserting bones, their ends should be melted.
2. It is better to do this with a lighter. Difficulties can arise only with white regilin.
3. It quickly ignites, and the braid blackens from the flame. Therefore, as soon as a tongue of flame appears, it must be immediately blown out - the edge of the braid must melt, but not burn.

How to assemble cups in a bustier

We proceed to the assembly of the "cup".

In this operation, the main thing is accuracy. In order for the cups to be symmetrical, the stitching seam of the “side” and “middle” must be aligned with the notch of the “top” part. Of course, to give rigidity, the cup can be made double and even duplicated.

The seam allowance for inserting the cup should be secured with a line or two. An arc bone is inserted between the lines that fix the allowance.

If you use a ready-made cup blank, then, as you may have guessed, the cutting and sewing technique is already different. And the cups are also very different.

Attention! Triangular cups are NOT suitable for this model.

Edged - cups that should be cut to size on their own - are cut to fit the bra before tightening.

There are also sized cups with already "imprinted" bones. These are the ones I used to sew the sample (photo of a pink bustier).

So, if the cup is tight, then the close-fitting of the workpiece begins from the area free from the arcuate bone. On the wrong side of the cup, put the corresponding part of the fabric with the front side, combining the cuts, and at a distance 0,5 см from the edge, lay a straight line from one end of the bone to the other. If in doubt, you can pre-baste. Bend the fabric over the face of the cup and baste it with two lines. First line - at a distance 2 см from the cut you just turned. The second line is 0,5 см from the arcuate bone. When laying the second line, you will have to lay a few folds or assemble, of course, the same on both cups.

After that, cut off the excess fabric, leaving behind the bone 0,5 см. Attention: the fabric should protrude beyond the bone at least 0,5 cm! After that, remove the second line of the basting, keeping the folds (or gathering) on ​​the workpiece and sew the cup cover (cover fabric only!) Into the workpiece of the bodice. You can pre-sweep, observing, as before, symmetry.

After installing the bones and covering the cup, iron the seam of stitching in the part-covering the cup towards the cup and the cup from the side of the arcuate bone can be basted to it, and then stitched.

How to process a bustier top when sewing

The top and bottom of the product is processed hem seam with open and pre-bent cut. It will not be difficult to do this, because the bones do not reach the cut on 1 см.

If you are an experienced tailor, you can trim open cuts with bias tape, but for this purpose you will have to make the inlay yourself, since the one that is sold in stores is not strong enough and is not ironed as needed for this model.

An inlay made of crepe satin or other dense silk is ideal. The width of such an inlay in a turn - 3 - 3,5 cm. The strip of the inlay is ironed in half and stitched “on the face” of the product, then it is bent to the wrong side, while the edging should be released from the “face”. Fasten with decorative stitching.

The easiest option is a detachable zipper or a special braid with loops and hooks. A special braid with loops for lacing is also suitable (we used this when sewing a lace belt).
