Another very simple way to process the neck with an oblique inlay (see. "How to make a bias tape").
This method differs from edging in a simpler approach and is applicable to fabrics of any thickness and texture.
Restriction - the shape of the neckline: cape with a clasp or a seam in the middle, "circle", "oval".
Description of a step-by-step simple method of processing the neck with an oblique inlay
Other, more complex forms are processed in other ways.
Consider photo 1, which shows a similar method using the example of a chiffon blouse.
From left to right: blouse - general plan, front side of the blouse and the wrong side.
As a finishing one of the decorative stitches was used.
So, we need an oblique inlay 4 cm wide.
It should be ironed twice face inward (if the fabric is not double-faced).
The inlay prepared in this way is superimposed on the front side of the blouse, while the neckline and inlay cuts are combined (Fig. 1a).
A straight machine stitch is laid along the inlay with an indent from the cuts of 0,5 cm.
By performing this operation, the neckline can be SLIGHTLY adjusted by tightening the trim.
It is very important that the line does not tighten the line.
When processing thick fabrics, part of the seam of the inlay can be cut off after stitching (Fig. 1 b).
When the binding is stitched and the correctness of this operation is checked, it should be folded over and ironed, as shown in fig. 2 a.
The inlay, ironed in this way, is folded over again on the wrong side of the blouse and ironed again.
When ironing, a piping with a width of 0,1 cm should be released (Fig. 2 a).
Finally, after the second ironing, the inlay is fixed with any wide decorative stitch available on your typewriter (Fig. 2 c).
Knitted necklines (photo 2) are even easier to process and the inlay can be wider - up to 7 cm.
The inlay is prepared in the same way as for other fabrics - it is ironed along in half with the face inward.
Then it is also superimposed on the face of the product with the alignment of the cuts of the neck and the inlay and grinded with a knitted seam (Fig. 3 a).
This is the only machine operation and the inlay only needs to be ironed (Fig. 3b).
Please note: in the model shown in photo 2, the neck was processed before the middle seam.
