Cutting and sewing a chiffon blouse with puffs under the bust

Sizes 42 – 62

The main feature of this model is that it suits girls and ladies with any figure.

Any chiffon or very thin silk, as well as thin “flowing” knitwear, is suitable for tailoring.

Fabric consumption for each size is different. For example, for the 42nd - a little less than two lengths, and for the 62nd - you will need two lengths of the product plus the length of the sleeve.

To calculate fabric consumption, make patterns and lay out on the floor or cutting table. Of course, the layout should be done taking into account the width of the fabric.

You should also pay attention to the position of the shelf: not a single cut of it should be on the shared thread, and the back is placed on the fold of the fabric.

Pay attention to the design of the sleeve. It looks upside down, but this should not mislead you. Two protrusions - this is an eyelet, the bend of the lower eyelet after assembling the product should be under the armpit.

When cutting, you will also have to take into account seam allowances: along the shoulder and side seam of the front and back.

No allowances are added along the bottom of the blouse and the sleeve, since the piping will be used for their processing. (see the article "What is an opikovka?").

The neck is processed with an oblique inlay (see article "How to make a bias tape").

Let us consider in more detail the sequence of tailoring the product.

We start by sewing, overcasting and ironing the shoulder and side seams. Please note: the shoulder seam is shifted towards the shelf and the assembly is required along the “shoulder” cut of the shelf. Therefore, before sewing, assembly should be done by laying two “weak” lines and pulling the ends of the threads together.

Then, throw the product over yourself, mark the depth of the neckline and check the location of the assembly on the shelf (which is indicated in the figure by a red dotted line) - the assembly should be located under the chest, and the neckline should not fall below the level of this assembly.

Next step: picking up all open cuts and edging the neckline.

After that, at the bottom of the neck and on the middle seam of the sleeve (which should be piked by this time), several small buttons are sewn to fasten the cuts.

The sleeve is rolled in and sewn in, the stitching seam should be sewn over (see a detailed description of the basting operation in the article “How to baste a sleeve”and master class on sewing online on the topic of knitting sleeves).

We complete the tailoring of the blouse by performing the assembly. In this case, the assembly is best done with a rubber or silicone thread. To do this, wind the rubber thread on the bobbin and lay the line along the markup. If you lay several such lines, you get puffs.
