2.2. Description of the design of the kimono blouse pattern on a round yoke

A simple enough blouse pattern to offer it for sewing to beginners learning to cut and sew.

One-piece sleeve - a variation of kimono. The bottom of the sleeve is suitable both for processing with cuffs and without them.

Round yoke and gathers, classic collar and cuffs.

Large volume blouse, oversized silhouette.

The blouse can be worn like a tunic.

If you need to adjust the length, a suitable area for this is between the level of the waist and the level of the rounding of the bottom (picture 2). Between these two points (levels) you need to lay a fold to reduce the length or make a cut and move apart to lengthen the blouse to wear it as a tunic or dress.

3. The choice and consumption of fabric for a blouse, how to buy, download and print a pattern

3.1. How to sew a blouse with a kimono sleeve on a round yoke

This style can only be sewn from thin and very thin fabrics.

Suitable as shirt chintz, and batiste or chiffon. Muslin, gauze, voile. From expensive fabrics, crepe de chine and other natural silks are suitable.

For a convenient economical layout, it is better to choose a fabric with a width of 150 cm. With this width, the consumption will be about 160 cm.

When calculating the consumption of expensive fabrics with a different width, you should perform a preliminary layout of the patterns with the already checked length of the product. If the width of the pattern is wider than the width of the fabric, the sleeve can be shortened or the pattern can be cut arbitrarily, as shown in 2 drawing.

4. How to cut a blouse on a yoke with a one-piece sleeve according to a simple ready-made pattern

How to cut a simple kimono blouse on a round yoke according to a finished patternOpening is quite simple. It should be started after checking the length of the product and the length of the sleeve, as well as after correcting the length, if necessary (picture 2).

So, two cutting options are possible - with a bar (picture 3) and with a "one-piece bar" (picture 4).

4.1. Plank option (picture 3) suitable for all fabrics

Lath width in cutting = 3 cm finished width + 2 cm for seams.

Cut-out cuff width = finished width + 2 cm for seams.

The length of the cuff depends on your desire, it can be loose along the width of the sleeve with pleats or tight enough for the arm.

Cut-out cuff length = shoulder girth or sleeve bottom length + 2 cm for seams

It's importantPlease note that it is better to cut the bar along a transverse or oblique thread. In this case, it is easier to process it “cleanly”. True, if you cut along the oblique, then the consumption will increase greatly, so we cut along the transverse.

4.2. Let's now consider how to cut a "one-piece bar" (picture 4)

Option for cutting a blouse according to a pattern with a strap

This option is only suitable for double-sided fabrics.

To cut the side with such a “bar”, 4 cm are added to the edge of the side of the shelf. Of these, 3 cm per bar, 1 cm per hem.

Seam allowances in any version 1 cm, except for the neck. Allowances are not added to it. On board (picture 3) allowances protrude to the edge, so we do not cut the edge.

An important detail about cutting a blouse for custom tailoring at home:
It's importantcollar and cuffs are recommended to be cut after fitting.

5. How to sew a blouse on a yoke at home - sewing sequence

  1. We start with processing the sides.
    Plank, the cutting of which is shown in figure 3:
    - bent and ironed on one long side by 1 cm;
    - it is attached with the uncurved side to the board;
    - iron and iron on edge;
    - put the folded side on the face and adjust;
    - we give a finishing line.
    "One-piece plank" (picture 4):
    - make a double hem, tucking Option for cutting a blouse according to a pattern with a one-piece trim"bar" on the "face";
    - ironing;
    - it is better to do the finishing line after connecting with the coquette.
  2. We continue by assembling along the line of the yoke and the pleat on the sleeve. Let me remind you that the assembly can be done with a “weak” machine stitch (large stitches, loose upper thread) or manually. Two gathering lines at a distance of 0,5 - 0,7 from the edge and with the same distance between them. We distribute the assembly along the back in a special way - more on the sleeves, less on the center. On the shelf - more on the sleeves and chest, very little near the bar. On the sleeves, you can “lay” folds or perform the same assembly as along the yoke line.
  3. Stitch the yokes, overcast and iron the seams. If the bar is one-piece, lay the finishing lines.
  4. Sew, overcast and iron the shoulder seams.
    They can also be processed double or sewing seam
  5. The side seams can be sewn, trimmed and ironed. Processing for chiffon, voile and crepe de chine can be reduced to processing sections
    rolled seam (aka a seam with a rudder),
    but very fine tuning is important here so that the seam does not look rough or stretched. Chintz should be overcast on an overlock or edged. For gauze, you can use the Moscow seam and the same edging. Considering that today fabrics bearing the same name can be of completely different quality and properties, it is worthwhile to perform several samples before processing in order to choose the best method.
  6. The bottom hem may not be required or it may be done "in an open hem" - one hem, one line.
  7. A fitting for a blouse of such a large volume is hardly needed, but it is necessary to measure the length of the cuts of the neck and the bottom of the sleeves according to the product. After that, you can cut out the collar and cuffs.
  8. Process the collar, process the cuffs.
  9. Stitch the collar and sew the cuffs, process the sections.
  10. Loops, buttons.
    See how to sew buttonholes on a typewriter on various types of fabric
  11. Finishing ironing.

During the sewing process, the question may arise, is it necessary to duplicate the placket, collar and cuffs?

It is not worth duplicating on thin fabrics. Shirt chintz - “holds” the sides quite well, and dubbing is visible on chiffon.
In some cases, it is possible to strengthen the bar with a thin stretch doubler, which is used for dubbing products made of stretch fabrics.

It's importantBut the decision should be made after making a trial sample of the bead (on a small piece of fabric).
