To sew a sports suit at home, you will need a household overlocker, on which you can customize knit stitch, as well as a universal sewing machine with the ability to adjust the zigzag and a double needle.
I will clarify that a double needle is an excellent solution if there is no stitching or the desire to use a zigzag to work the bottom.

A good budget solution would be a fleece or a dense cool fabric. You can use supplex, diving, lycra and other knitted fabrics with elastane or polyester.

5. How to cut a tracksuit according to ready-made patterns
Cutting is quite simple and is also simplified by the fact that when sewing a tracksuit on an overlock, seam allowances are not required (picture 2). But, if you really want, you can add 0,5 cm.
You should be very careful when cutting the stripes - it is important that they clearly maintain the specified width along the entire length.
The stripe of the sleeves is cut out double, that is, two stripes wide (this is 6 cm, and if you add an allowance, then the width in the cut is 7 cm). You will need 4 such double stripe parts if you are planning the same raglan as in the photo.
After cutting, do not forget to put notches along the horizontal lines indicated on the drawings so as not to warp the product when sewing.
Don't forget to mark pockets.
Please note that welt pockets such as "leaflet" or "frame" will require sewing experience, so it is better to notch the pockets in the seams.
Before starting sewing, for beginners who decide to make welt pockets, it is recommended to sew pocket samples on pieces of fabric.
And read also how to sew a welt pocket with a zipper, which is suitable for this tracksuit.
Cutting the cuffs and collar is very simple - these are rectangles.
The width of the cuffs and collar in the cut is calculated by the formula:
Ready-made cuff (collar) width + 1 (or 1,5) cm
Please note that the length of the collar made of cuff fabric and the cuff at the bottom of the sleeve should be shorter than the stitching seam by 3 - 5 cm or even more. It depends on the softness and extensibility of the cuff. In order not to be mistaken, measure along the arm or neck.
6. How to sew a women's sports suit with your own hands
We start by setting up the overlock (links above).
And the sewing sequence will be something like this:
- Welt pockets. If the pockets are welt, it is advisable to duplicate the pocket from the inside with a thin knitted doubler.
- Preparing the sleeve stripe. Iron the details of the stripes of the sleeves in half lengthwise and, if necessary, ground (trim). Lay one workpiece on top of the other and sew across the bartack - a horizontal line at the level of the short sleeve mark. Decorative buttons or buttons.
- Attaching stripes to the details of the sleeves and trousers on the overlock. Don't forget to align the notches and iron the seams. If the trousers have a pocket in the seam between the PP and the stripe, sew a zipper (preferably a hidden one) in the notch area, and then burlap. Stitch the seam after the burlap. The zipper is sewn along the step strip to the same sections as the pocket.
- When the sleeves and legs are gathered, carefully iron them.
- Then we assemble the jacket - side seams on the overlock, sleeve seam (at hand), we sew the sleeve. All seams are carefully ironed.
- We sew lightning. Can be with selection, can be without. See video how to sew a zipper in a sports bomber jacket
- How to process the bottom of the sleeves and the bottom of a sports jacket with a cuff
- Cuff collar in a bomber jacket - sewing video
- We finish the trousers - we grind the seam of the bow-seat on the overlock and iron it, slightly stretching it in the buttocks area.
- Next is the belt. The easiest option is to sew a decorative wide elastic band to match or match the color of the finish.
- Bottom - in a hem with an open cut - overcast and fold 1 time. You can also process the bottom of the trousers with a cuff, like the bottom of the sleeve.
