4. How to cut a jumpsuit, bodysuit, swimsuit

A home couturier will face several difficulties when sewing a bodysuit or swimsuit.

For example, if the fabric has low stretch or if you need to reduce the growth, the pattern will have to be adjusted.
Two types of correction are possible - lengthening the entry on the fastener or correction of the length of the back and front.

That shorten back and front, you need to lay a horizontal fold on the patterns, which will be parallel to the waist and will be located 8-10 cm above the waist.

That lengthen back and front - cut the pattern horizontally above the waist and push it apart.

The most difficult thing is to determine the size of such a correction, so it is recommended to correct only the detail of the step under the fastener.

The cutting process itself is very simple (figures 2 и 3), as no seam allowances are required.

The fabric is folded in half face to face and the parts are laid out in the most economical way.

For a bodysuit with a fastener on a shelf near the groin, you will need a part that duplicates the bottom of the shelf, which we cut out from dublerin without allowances for seams along the shelf pattern - a fragment from the bottom to the hips.

Having cut out the “double of the bottom of the shelf” from the dublerin, we glue it on any lunge of the fabric that remains after cutting and cut it out again.

At the end of the cutting, we make notches at the waist level with a length of 0,3 cm - they will serve as reference points for us when sewing the side seams.

5. How to sew a bodysuit with your own hands step by step

The main question when sewing a bodysuit or a gymnastic leotard will be how to put it on.

The swimsuit is put on through the neckline, the bodysuit has a fastener on the shelf near the groin. Of course, products with a zipper along the middle seam of the back have the right to life.

So, having solved the issue with fasteners, you can start sewing.
We sew on an overlock with a knitted seam

1. Stitch center back seam and side seams. Iron.
2. Stitch the shoulder seams with a hem. Iron.
3. Stitch sleeve. Iron the seam.
4. Stitch side-sleeve seam, iron.
5. Grinding with a narrow zigzag “step with a fastener” is a double detail, so we grind and iron it.
6. The bottom of the shelf is also turned and ironed.
7. Next, we process the neckline with a dovyaz or elastic band and the cutout of the groin with thin linen elastic bands, which we sew on the overlock slightly stretching. After stitching, we fold and stitch with a double needle or any elastic decorative stitch. For example, a zigzag "troika" (zigzag in three stitches). We iron lightly.
8. We process the bottom of the sleeve into a hem with an open cut - overcast, fold once and hem with a rasp, zigzag "three", a double needle or any elastic decorative stitch that is available to you.
