Tailoring a coat requires professional skills, both in cutting and tailoring the product, despite the fact that this is one of the simplest coat models.

Any overcoat fabrics are suitable for tailoring.

The consumption will be about 2 m 20 cm of coat fabric while maintaining the length given in the patterns. Lining consumption up to 1 m and about 5 m of dublerin.

The set of patterns includes details of the bodice - a back and a shelf with a one-piece selection, details of the bottom of the coat - a back and a shelf with a one-piece selection, a two-seam classic sleeve (Fig. 1). Du in patterns is 45 cm.

Cutting the “top” of the coat itself is not difficult (Fig. 2): the finished patterns are laid out on the fabric, taking into account the share direction and allowances.

Please note: for the bodice of the back in the drawings, a line of the shared direction is given, that is, the middle seam with the shared thread does NOT match.

The bottom of the back ("skirt") can be cut without a seam, if you attach the middle line to the fold of the fabric or with a seam and a slot, as in Fig. 2.

Thusm, the allowance for the middle seam of the back will be uneven: the top of the bodice is 2 cm, the bottom is 3,5 cm, for the lower part of the back, if a slot is planned, the allowance increases to 7-8 cm.

In addition, you will need an uneven allowance for processing the sleeve slots. At the bottom of the elbow seam, it should be increased to 4 cm.

The rest of the allowances are the usual: along the bottom - 3,5 - 4 cm; the neckline, sprout, armhole and hem of the sleeve - beyond the line of the outline of the pattern; shoulder, side, waist sections - 1,2 - 1,5 cm each.

In this case, the rule works: the thicker the fabric, the greater the allowance.

Pay attention also to the lobar direction of the upper half of the sleeve: lay the pattern so that the lobar connects the upper and lower points of the front seam.

Of course, the fractional thread for the details of the shelf must necessarily pass along the lines of the half-skid and the edge of the side.

A few words about the undercut of the facing for the sprout and the cutting of the lining: we cut them out according to the same patterns as the “top” of the coat (Fig. 3).

In order not to spoil the patterns of the front and bodice of the back of the coat, I advise you to make a copy of the pattern from plastic film or other available material.

On copies of the patterns, fold the one-piece trim towards the shelf. Attention! fold along the line of the edge of the board! And cut the pattern along the edge of the band.

The facing of the sprout and the lining of the bodice of the back also involves cutting the pattern along the line of the edge of the facing. In this case, the width of the latter should be the same as the width of the selection along the shoulder section of the shelf.

We cut out the facing of the sprout with allowances of 1,2 - 1,5 cm along the middle and shoulder seams. Sprout and departure - beyond the line of the outline of the pattern.

We cut the lining according to the prepared patterns, taking into account the allowances for the seams (Fig. 4).

Please note that the backrest patterns can be combined for this. To process the tuck slots in the area of ​​​​the shoulder blades, add 3 - 4 cm. To hem the bottom, add 7 - 8 cm (hem with a closed cut + base).

Along the line of connection of the lining with the selection, the allowance is double. That is, if you added 1 cm along the side-shoulder, then 2 cm along the cut of the stitching of the side-turning.

To save fabric, the lining for the sleeve can be cut across and the slot allowance is not needed. It is enough to add 3-4 cm along the bottom.

We replace the tuck of the shelf with a soft warehouse.
