Patterns of the frill are not included in the sets of patterns, since the frill is a strip of fabric. How to cut a frill is described below. The facings of the sprout and the neck are cut out according to the patterns of the shelf and back.

The style of the dress "trapeze with a frill" does not have a bust tuck, so it is not recommended for girls with a large bust.

Attention: the increase in the bust is 6 cm - this is a large volume dress.

Fabric consumption is calculated by the formula

A-line dress pattern set with collar and frill

Patterns of the back with a round neck for trapeze dresses

Cost for a dress without frill + frill length + 5 cm

The consumption for a dress without a frill is from 120 to 150 cm.

The recommended frill length is from 25 to 60 cm.

Thus, the flow rate ranges from 150 to 215 cmXNUMX.

What are these trapeze dresses made of?

For sewing such dresses, all dress fabrics of medium thickness are well suited - from silk to wool. Synthetic knitted fabrics with stitch imitation, dense stretch of low or medium stretch, linen jacquard, dress jeans and others are also well suited.

How to cut a trapezoid dress with a frill according to patterns with your own hands

Photo of a tailored A-line dress with a collar and a frill

  1. Patterns of a sleeve with an assembly along the collar and narrowed without assemblyIn this model, you can do without a zipper. The clasp is made in the middle seam of the back.
  2. The neck in the model with a collar and in the model without a collar should be processed with facings.
  3. In the variation with the collar, the piping will make the processing “clean” and reliable, but it is better to cut out the piping, like the collar itself, according to the product after trying it on. For beginners, I advise you to take a look. video master class how to cut out the neckline on the product after trying on
  4. In a variation without a collar - the facing will keep its shape well and will not allow the neck to deform. In this case, we cut out the facing according to the same pattern as the shelf and back. We cut out the facing from dublerin and DO NOT add seam allowances in these blanks. We will add to the seams after gluing to the fabric and only at the junction of the facing fragments.
  5. For the main parts, the seam allowances are ordinary (figures 4 и 5) - 1 cm apart sprout (back neck), armholes and sleeves. On the bottom of the sleeve - depending on the method of processing. The allowance on the bottom of the shelf and back is not of great importance and you can not add it.
  6. Facing in patterns of trapezoid dressesTo cut a frill, you need to determine its length. To do this, the length of the shelf pattern is compared with the length of your favorite dress and the difference will be the length of the frill.
  7. To the resulting length of the frill, add to the hem with an open or closed cut (single or double hem). It is 3 - 4 cm.
  8. Beginners can see my article seams and methods of processing the bottom of the product. And also video how to process the bottom of the dress in different ways
  9. Seam allowances for the cut of the A-line dress with a boatPlease note: seam allowances are NOT added to the cuts of the armholes, sprout, neckline and sleeve hem!
  10. The frill is cut out in the transverse direction.
  11. For collar (picture 5) the allowances are as follows: at the departure and ends - 1 cm, at the neck no more than 0,3 - 0,5 cm.
  12. Pay attention to the fact that the gradation of collar sizes is given on the patterns, but the numbers are not written. We cut out the collar ACCORDING TO THE PRODUCT after trying it on, measuring the length of the neck.
  13. Seam allowances when cutting an A-line dress with a collar and a frillWhen cutting out the collar, it is more convenient to resort to the same technique as when cutting the facings: cut it out of doubler without seam allowances, stick it on the fabric and, having added the necessary allowances, cut it out. This approach allows you to cut the collar very accurately.

How to sew such dresses step by step for beginners

  1. We start sewing the dress by stitching the shoulder, side and middle seams of the back. We do not grind the last one to the end - we sweep the top 10 cm. We sew the sleeves right away. All cuts are overcast and carefully ironed.
  2. On a sleeve with an assembly, we assemble by machine or by hand. Here video tutorial how to assemble .
  3. See also sewing master class video about the assembly on the sleeve.
  4. After that, the sleeve can be swept in for a fitting and a fitting can be carried out. How to throw in a sleeve - video tutorial for beginners.
  5. How to Sweep a Gathered Sleeve - Another video lesson.
  6. After finishing the fitting, you can cut out the piping and collar blanks, stick them on the fabric, add the necessary allowances and cut them out again.
  7. Finishing the neckline in the drawings.
  8. Sewing a dress with a collar differs only in that we first weave in the collar, and then we process the neck with a facing.
  9. Having processed the neckline and the bottom of the sleeve, you can process the bottom of the frill in the way you have chosen, and after making the assembly, connect the frill to the dress.
