Sewing difficulty level: beginner - pattern for beginners. The only difficulty that a couturier may face when cutting and sewing this model is the calculation of fabric consumption. The formulas and options for calculating the flow rate are described below using specific types of the model as an example.

Included in the set of patterns "dresses-blouses-tunics with a frill" are included (picture 1): patterns of a shelf, back and notch for a peplum "sun" (or for a "sun" skirt - optional).

Patterns of the “tatyanka” skirt and frills with a set of patterns are not included, since the “tatyanka” and the upper frill are strips of fabric. The cutting and calculation of the fabric for the Tatyanka skirt and frill is described in detail below for three varieties of this model.

They are also suitable for complex figures and for those who seek to hide some features of the physique. However, full girls and ladies should not choose to make lush frills, so as not to increase the volume of the shoulder girdle.

Cut and sew dresses, blouses and tunics at home from scratch

Let's start by looking at the style shown in Photo 1 - blouses with a frill and peplum "sun". To do this, the patterns of the shelves and backs should be cut along the waistline - it is marked on the drawings.

This style option, perhaps, has the most complex calculation of fabric consumption.

Chintz, thin linen, thin shirt "hebeshka" and thin jeans without elastane are suitable for sewing. It is possible to use jacquard, but the "sandwich" will not work. Dense silk fabrics will also be appropriate.

Cutting is carried out in three stages (picture 2): first the bodice is cut out, then the peplum (or "sun" skirt) and lastly the frills.

Please note that the fabric is folded in half along the width of the layout of the bodice patterns, then the rest along the width of the “sun” peplum, so you immediately need to know its length and, completing the cutting, you can fold the rest in half to speed up the cutting of frills. Although, for frills, you can not do this.

The seam allowances are as follows: along the side and upper cuts - 1 cm, along the waist cut of the bodice - 3,5 - 4 cm (for trying on), along the middle seam also 1 cm - but you can cut off the excess after the back has already been cut.

Another point is important here - determining the direction of the shared thread. Orientation for the backrest should be along the midline, which is marked on the drawing or the cut of the waist - the cut of the waist must be strictly perpendicular to the edges, while the lobar shelf coincides with the semi-skid (middle line of the shelf).

Now that you know what a blouse with a frill and peplum looks like, you can proceed to the calculation of fabric consumption.

For the bodice we need

Shelf length + 5 cm for seams;

on a peplum (or on a skirt - the formulas are the same)

2Du + notch diameter

The cost of frills is calculated not only based on the length of the frill, but also based on the density of the assembly.

The density of the assembly is calculated by the length of the frill in the gathered form. In our case, you should measure the figure along the shoulders over the arms and above the chest, that is, at the place where the frill will pass. The resulting measurement should be divided in half, since we also fold the fabric in half, and multiply the resulting value by 1,5 - 2,5.

How much to multiply? If the assembly is not too tight at 1,5. For a dense assembly - 2, and for a very dense assembly - 2,5.

Let's say the length of the frill in the gathered form is 100 cm. So, for such a tight assembly, we need a strip of fabric from 200 to 250 cm.

If we act according to the rules - we divide the measurement in half and fold the fabric in half, then the measurement in half size is 50 cm, and the length of the frill folded in half is 100 - 125 cm.

The frill width is calculated taking into account processing allowances. That is, to the desired width in the finished form, you should add an allowance for the drawstring to insert an elastic band or cord and an allowance for a double hem of the bottom, which is called the “hem with a closed cut”.

By the way, you can insert soft reguilin into this double hem to make the frill stiffer. That is, the hem allowance depends on the width of the regiline, if you use it.

If you calculate roughly, then the width of the finished frill should be about 20 cm. Add 5-6 cm to the wide double hem, and 3,5-5 cm to the drawstring. In total, about 30 cm is obtained.

So, let's summarize the calculation of consumption for a blouse with a peplum and a frill. The expense will be:

(Length of the shelf according to the pattern + 5 cm) + (2Du + Notch diameter) + Finished frill length 30 cm

Now let's look at how to cut and sew the dresses presented on Photo 2. These dresses are suitable for both thin and curvy girls. They can be sewn from a staple, gauze or reaper. Batiste, thin linen, stitching and lace are well suited.

To cut, as for the previous model, you only need a bodice, so we cut the pattern at the waist and use the upper part.

Cutting is done in three stages (picture 3): bodice, ruffles and skirt.

Since the cutting and calculation of the consumption of the frill and bodice is done almost exactly the same as for the previous model, we will not repeat the above, but we need

Du (skirt length) + hem or minus lace

You should also pay attention to the fact that the width of the frill in the cutting is calculated differently:

It is even easier to cut and sew a blouse, tunic or dress according to the type of models presented on photo 3. The main thing is to choose the right length. Ruffle calculation, as for the model on Photo 1.

Sewing all these products is not difficult.

First, the frill is processed - its fragments are ground off, the bottom of the frill is folded and the hem is folded for the drawstring. The last seam of the frill is ground down.

The seams and tucks of the bodice or tunic, dress are ground. It is necessary to overcast and iron or iron the seams and sew the zipper to the middle seam, as well as overcast the upper cut of the bodice and edging the armholes. Then, connect the bodice, tunic or dress with a frill - apply bast and stitch.

We finish the tunic and dress that are not cut off at the waist, processing the bottom, and continue sewing the cut-off dress or blouse with a peplum by trying on.

You will need to put on a bodice, tie it with a belt and mark the waistline. Assemble the bodice along the bottom (it will be loose) and connect the bodice to the peplum in the same way as the bodice is connected to the "sun" skirt. Finally, process the bottom of the peplum with an open hem, that is, overcast and fold over once.
