A set of templates for a dress "trapeze with a frill and a difference in length"
(picture 1):
- back cutouts.
- shelves.
- non-stop sleeve.
Please note that for small sizes there is a shelf without a tuck for the chest, and for large sizes a shelf with a tuck for the chest from the armhole.
A frill pattern is not included in the set of patterns, since a frill is a strip of fabric. How to cut a frill is described below. The facings of the sprout and the neck are cut out according to the patterns of the shelf and back.
The increase in the chest (Pg) is 6 cm - this is a dress with a large volume.
✂ Calculation of fabric consumption and what to sew a dress with a frill and a length difference from
The consumption for a dress of size 40-52 with a frill width of 50 cm will be up to 210 cm, while the consumption for the bodice + sleeve is 110 cm, and 100 cm for the frill.
The consumption for a dress of size 52-64 with a frill width of 50 cm will be up to 240 cm, while the consumption for the bodice + sleeve will be 140 cm and 100 cm for the frill.
When calculating, the width of the fabric in both cases was taken as 140 cm, and the length of the sleeve was 3/4, as in the photo.
What to sew from?

The summer version allows the use of linen and gauze, especially if you plan to sew a dress in the boho style. Dress jeans, poplin, chintz, silk are also suitable.

How to cut a trapezoid dress with your own hands for beginners
In this model, you can do without a zipper. The fastener "cut" ("drop", "heart", "peak", etc.) is performed in the middle seam of the back if desired (picture 2).
The facings are cut out according to the patterns of the shelves and backs from dublerin without seam allowances. Allowances for the stitching seams of the facing fragments are added after gluing this dubbing onto the fabric.
In this case, the sequence is as follows: according to the patterns of the shelf and back, we cut out a facing with a width of about 4 cm without allowance for seams, after cutting the main parts, we paste the dubbing on the remnants of the fabric and cut it out with the necessary allowances.

✂ About seam allowances when cutting a dress
Shoulder, side, front-back seams of the sleeve - 1 cm each. No allowances are added along the sprout (back neck) and neck (front neck), as well as along the armhole and hem, since adding allowances along concave lines reduces their length and distorts the pattern .
On the bottom of the back, shelves and on the bottom of the sleeve, seam allowances are not required. The length of the sleeve must be determined independently.
Frill length 50 cm includes processing - a seam connection with a back-shelf and a bottom hem.

✂ Layout of fabric when cutting a dress
The layout for sizes 40-52 is shown in 3 drawing.
The fabric is folded in half along the width of the back-shelf, laid with a jack, taking into account seam allowances. The share thread of the back and fronts coincides with the middle lines. The middle line of the shelf is called a semi-skid.
To simplify the task, you can first circle the patterns of the back, shelves and sleeves, and then fold the fabric along the width of the layout and cut it out.
The frill is cut out in the transverse direction across the entire width of the fabric.
Sizes 52-64 will be cut out in the same way, but the fabric is simply folded in half (picture 4).
How to sew this dress step by step for beginners
- We start sewing the dress by stitching the shoulder, side and middle seams of the back.
- We do not grind the last one to the end - we sweep the top 10 cm.
- We immediately grind off the sleeves - they are non-stop, so there is no need to tuck them in.
- See sewing video how to sew a sleeve without tucking in
- All stitched sections are overcast and carefully ironed.
- On the sleeve we make a drawstring for an elastic band - this is the easiest way, which is suitable for beginners to sew with their own hands.
- See also how to process a sleeve without a cuff
- Finishing the neckline in drawings - also on the website of Vera Olkhovskaya
- Parts of the frill are also ground down, the stitching seams are overcast and ironed.
- On the upper cut of the frill, assembly by machine or by hand
- After assembly, you can connect the "top" and "bottom". First, tighten the assembly so that the lengths of the sections that you will connect are of the same length. Then chop along the middle points of the front and back, along the side seams and, lastly, chop off the bodice and frill at intermediate points. Then you can sweep or immediately under the machine.
- The stitched seam is overcast and ironed up.
