This type of pocket looks good on vests made of fur with a short or medium length of pile. Fur vest pattern here:
In addition, the quilted pocket is used when sewing women's winter coats with a quilted lining.
As a pocket insulation, you can take both synthetic winterizer and batting.
For processing, you will need a rectangle of unquilted lining fabric measuring approximately 20 x 35 cm.
How to sew a pocket in a vest, coat
The rectangle should be folded in half across and iron the fold. Stepping back from the fold 0,5 - 0,7 cm Lay a straight stitch, connecting both layers of fabric. Then, lay two more lines so that the distance between each pair of lines is 0,7 см (Fig. 1 - the lines are marked with the numbers "1", "2", "3" on the left).
To stitch, place a rectangle of insulation between the layers of fabric, as shown in fig. 1 and quilt it. Marking for the picture is not needed, be guided by the edge of the foot. The stitch connects all three layers of fabric: the "face", the insulating lining and the "wrong side" of the pocket.
It should be noted that the insulation for pocket stitching should not be too voluminous. It is possible that the detail of the padding pad will have to be divided in layers into two or more parts. The number of pieces will depend on the original thickness of the lining or insulation material used in the product. It is impossible to separate the batting in layers, but it can be ironed through a damp iron.
After the pocket is quilted, it must be ground and pulled between the lines "1" and "2" of the elastic band, tightening it to 1 см (no more!), and fasten the ends with bartacks (Fig. 2).
Finally, the pocket edges are edged. Of course, the ends of the edging are also fixed. After that, the pocket is adjusted to the lining, without taking into account the tie that the elastic gives.
