Although the style looks simple, the home couturier will need professional skills in cutting and sewing outerwear. Of course, many novice couturiers will take the risk of sewing this model, thinking that they can easily cope with tucking in the sleeves and the rest of the difficulties they can handle.

Indeed, it is much easier to sweep the sleeve here, since it is modeled on the basis of the “kimono” sleeve, but there are enough difficulties without it.

The first main difficulty: how to choose a fabric?

Why are fabrics with pile not suitable for sewing this coat? Due to the design of the sleeve, the fractional thread of the sleeve from the back side and from the front side will be in different directions. And, as you know, when cutting pile fabrics, the pile should be in the same direction on all parts - on the back, on the shelf and on the sleeve.

Remember, even a very short cut pile in the product will give a different shade of color if the direction does not match.

How to cut a short coat for women

Cutting is not difficult (picture 2).

Pay attention to the fact that it is desirable to make the pick-up one-piece, attaching the sub-cut close to the shelf. The share thread of the shelf should be parallel to the edge of the bead.

We lay the back on the fold of the fabric, that is, the lobar coincides with the midline. This is one of the few coat styles that does not have a back seam.

Lobar sleeves - arbitrary.

In addition to the back, shelves and sleeves, you can cut out another facing of the sleeve to process it along the bottom. But you can not cut it out if the coat is sewn from double-sided fabric or neoprene. In these cases, open cuts may be edged or even left open.

But we cut out the selection and duplicate it in any case.

Seam allowances are usual for a coat - shoulder-side 1 - 1,2 cm along the bottom 3 cm, the rest are not added. For the sleeve, we add only along the stitching seam. It is better to cut off the tuck allowance on the shelf already during processing, especially if the fabric does not hold its shape well. For example, tweed "gunny".

Dubbing in this style short coat

The duplication for a lined product is the same as for a regular coat (picture 2). The shelf is duplicated completely without seam allowances. The dublerin blank is cut strictly along the line of the edge of the bead in order to stick the dubbing parts with an indent of 0,5 cm. This can easily and simply iron a one-piece selection and keep the WTO in the sock.

The back is duplicated approximately to the level of the waist, the dubbing is cut out with large teeth. Sleeve facing - no seam allowance. The bottom of the product is glued before processing the bottom with an indent on the shelf of 0,5 cm.

For a product without lining, we duplicate only the pick and allowance on the bottom of the product.

Separately, I will say about turning along the sprout (picture 3) - it is cut out according to the pattern of the back - the line for turning is marked in the drawing. The turning of the sprout should be a continuation of the selection.

If the sleeve is lined, then the lining and facing are cut out according to the same pattern (picture 3).

To do this, the sleeve pattern is cut in an arbitrary line, preferably concave and indented 5-6 cm from the bottom notches.

The facings of the sprout and sleeves are duplicated, excluding seam allowances.

When cutting out the lining along the cuts of stitching the facings and stitching the collar to the lining, add a double allowance - 2 - 2,5 cm.

The lining layout is shown in 4 drawing. We also add a double allowance to the shelf along the cut stitched to the board.

Step by step instructions how to sew

Sewing this short coat does not require traditional fittings. Trying on may be needed only to make sure that you have chosen the correct size of the product.

Sewing a coat should start with duplicating the front and back. Then, we iron the bead, process the tuck and perform the WTO.

Then, process the shoulder and side seams, turn the sprout, and process the lining. Separately, the sleeve: connect the facing with the lining and turn the bottom of the sleeve, and then sew the seam of the sleeve and the seam of the lining, iron.
