Instructions on how to sew a vest "Cube" on a pattern with your own hands

To sew vests of this model, you need to have the skills of stitching and working with insulating materials.

The set of patterns includes two models of women's insulated vests of a straight silhouette (picture 1).

In the upper part of the vest pattern shown in the photo there is a back-shelf, a sleeve and a stand-up collar. This is a dimensionless vest, because due to the volume it can fit almost all slender girls and women.

It is sewn from raincoat fabric, synthetic winterizer and lining fabric. The consumption of synthetic winterizer and lining is one length of the product plus 5 cm.

At the bottom of the figure are shown patterns of a vest similar in shape.

This model is simpler than the previous one and can be sewn from faux or natural fur with short pile or medium pile, as well as from any warm material.

The consumption of the "top" fabric or fur for both models will be 90 - 100 cm, with a width of 150 cm.

With a fabric width of 140 cm, the consumption is the same, but no allowances are added for a dimensionless vest.

How to cut and how to sew a dimensionless cube vest

The processes of cutting and sewing alternate in this vest.

First, we cut out the “top” from the fabric.

Allowances: on the bottom 4 - 6 cm per drawstring; shoulder, side, half-skid - 1 cm each, but if the width of the fabric is 140 cm, side allowances and half-skid allowance can be omitted.

The sprout and neck are cut out without an allowance so as not to shorten their length.

For the sleeve and stand, all seam allowances are 1 cm.

It remains aboutthe bottom part is the valance bar under the zipper. This is a rectangle with a width of 6 - 10 cm.

After cutting the “top”, we lay the cut out details of the vest in a turn on the padding polyester and prick them with pins.

We cut out a synthetic winterizer with a large margin - 3 - 4 cm on each side and perform a stitch

After stitching - pockets.

The quilted parts are slightly ironed and cut out again, that is, the excess padding polyester is cut off.

On the quilted details of the "top" we cut the lining.

It can also be quilted or simply stitched to the “top”, and the sewing sequence will be as follows.

We sew a zipper and a valance to the “top” shelf, and then we sew the lining shelf along the half-skid.

We grind and iron the shoulder and side seams of the back of the "top" and the back of the lining.

We grind the “top” of the sleeve and lining only along the long, indirect side of the quadrangle and iron it.

We sew the “top” of the sleeve, in accordance with the inscriptions on the pattern, into the armhole of the “top”, and then the lining of the sleeve into the armhole of the lining and make the necessary decorative and fastening lines.

After that, we make a collar and sew the “top” of the collar into the “upper” neck and the collar lining into the neck of the lining.

We iron and make decorative-fixing lines.

We carry out the drawstring as a seam in a hem with a closed cut: first the edges, and then we fold it twice so that the lining falls under the line.

Of course, if necessary, the length of the lining can be cut.

The second “cube” vest should be cut and sewn, just like the first one (picture 3).

The only difference is that instead of a sleeve, a strip of fabric, fur or dovyaz is used along the length of the armhole.

We already met with dovyaz when we sewed a bomber jacket.

It is also possible to make not only the sleeve and collar, but also the cuffs below from the dovyaz strips.
