  1. Back pattern.
  2. Shelf patterns: middle part, left side and right side.
  3. Burlap pocket.

Patterns of facings for processing armholes and necks are not included in the kit, since these parts are cut out according to the patterns of the back and front. The lines for cutting the facings are marked with thin lines.

Right - left are marked as the tailor sees them to avoid confusion.

3. Description of the design of this sundress

This laconic style of a sundress can be classified as a "case" with a straight skirt.

The degree of fit is easy to change on fitting within the framework from semi-adjacent to adjacent. It is worth considering that for sewing a free sundress or a sundress that will be sewn from loose and / or thick fabric for winter, you should choose a larger size than for a summer product.

An additional complicating element is a one-piece strap emerging from the right semi-relief.

4. From what to sew a sundress for a blouse, turtleneck or T-shirt and how much fabric is consumed

Almost any not too thin fabric from the dress assortment and any of the costume ones will do.

For the cold season, you can use not only dress wool, but also tweed, loden, lightweight drape.

Denim and jacquard fabrics are also suitable. For summer, linen and heavy silk will be most suitable.

Consumption will be from 130 to 190 cm with a width of 150 cm.

6. How to cut a sundress with semi-reliefs and pockets according to the finished pattern

How to cut facings for a sundress with semi-reliefs and pockets (Fig. 2)Let's start by determining the desired length by measuring the length of the sundress from the waist to the bottom according to the figure and pattern.

Having decided on the length, we proceed to cutting the facings from dublerin (picture 2). To do this, we circle the patterns of the back, shelves and barrels, as shown in 2 drawing.

We also cut out the strap from the dublerin and, since we will duplicate it only on the right part of the barrel, we cut out the dubbing by turning the dublerin with glue up. One detail is needed.

We cut out all the details from dublerin without seam allowances. After that, you can proceed to cutting (picture 3).

Since this model contains asymmetric and symmetrical details, we fold the fabric in half along the width of the back - the scheme on 3 drawing in a bubble.

Seam allowances are predominantly 1 cm, with the exception of armhole and neck cuts - no allowances are added to them. Along the edges of the strap - 0,7 cm, along the bottom of the sundress - 2,5 - 3 cm.

The share direction is indicated on the patterns.

How to cut a sundress with semi-reliefs and pockets according to the finished pattern (Fig. 3)When laying out, you should fold the fabric in half along the width of the back with allowances, lay out the back pattern on the fabric.

To the right of the back, asymmetric details are laid out. Please note: the asymmetry is laid out on the front side of the fabric and all the inscriptions on the patterns are located upwards.

The remaining facings and burlap are placed randomly. Please note that the facings are cut out only after the doubler is glued to the fabric. Glue, of course, should be on the wrong side of the fabric.

The allowances for turning are the same - 1 cm, with the exception of the neck and armholes. No allowance is added to the bottom either.

When the cutting is completed, put notches on the waist and on the border of the semi-relief with the strap. Where the neck borders on the strap, notches will also be required. In addition, notches should be located on the side seams along the pocket entry line. Notch length - 0,5 cm.

7. How to sew a sundress at home

Sewing sequence.

  1. Overstitch the opening to the pocket on the middle part of the front of the burlap pocket. Sweep, iron, stitch to waist level.
  2. Turn the strap, sweep, iron, stitch.
  3. Process the reliefs and burlap of the pocket. Perform bartacks that will limit the entrance to the pocket.
  4. The middle seam of the back is processed with a zipper.
  5. Back darts.
  6. Stitch the facings of the shelves along the relief, iron them out. Overcast all the details of the facings along the bottom cut.
  7. Thus, we got a processed (and ironed!) back and a processed (and ironed!) shelf with pockets and a strap. You can overstitch the neckline and armholes of the back, then the neckline and armholes of the front.
  8. After that, process the shoulder and side seams.
  9. Finally, work the bottom into an open hem - overcast and fold once.
  10. Sew on decorative buttons.
