In cases where it is inconvenient to use regilin, the so-called corset tape or artificial whalebone is taken to replace it.

Thanks to the invention of these amazing and inexpensive applied materials, which replaced natural whalebone and replaced metal bones, the corset and corsetry immediately returned to the catwalks and wardrobes of fashionistas.

Regilin and corset tape are good because when working with them, it is not necessary to master the professional skills of sewing a corset. It is enough to buy some stretch fabric and find a suitable pattern.

Corset tape, unfortunately, cannot be stitched or stitched, but it can be easily inserted into the darts of skirts and trousers with one-piece belts (high bodice), into the darts and reliefs of the dress - between the line connecting the seam and the line that overcasts both allowances of this seam.
When sewing a corset, the bones are inserted under the stitched oblique trim.
In doing so, two points must be taken into account.
First: you need horizontal bartacks that will not allow the "bone" to move up and down.
Second: the product "on the bones" should sit quite tightly on the figure.
Without tightening, but tightly, otherwise the "bones" will scroll in their "pockets".
The same can be said about the reguiline - the product must sit tightly on the figure, otherwise the reguiline will be deformed due to the scrolling of the rods from the fishing line, replacing the shared thread in the regiline.

The rules for working with regilin and corset tape are the same: it is desirable to melt their ends.
Some tailors seal the ends of the reguilin with masking tape - this method is more suitable for white reguilin, which is used when sewing dresses made of white or light-colored fabric.
