Pattern patterns for a dress with a turn-down collar

The sewing level is easy. The pattern is suitable for beginners, but not recommended for the first product. Before buying, you should take into account that you have to tuck in the sleeve and process the neck with a turn-down collar.

The “Tatyanka dress with a turn-down collar” model, like any other style of a dress cut off at the waist with a similar skirt, is only suitable for slender girls and women.

The set of patterns consists of (picture 1):

  1. patterns for the back and front of the bodice;
  2. two sleeve patterns;
  3. five turn-down collars.

Patterns of the Tatyanka skirt are not included in the kit, since the skirt here is strips of fabric.

Fabric for a dress and its consumption

For sewing a dress, almost any stable fabric of the dress assortment of “medium” density and “medium” thickness is suitable, from dress wool to velvet. The list of fabrics for sewing this model also includes thick chintz, thin stable jeans, linen, thick silk and jacquard fabrics.

Sleeve patterns for a dress with a turn-down collarCollars can be removable or sewn into the neck. For sewing collars, you can use the same fabric as for the dress. But plain shirt fabrics (thin cotton or silk with polyester or other synthetic additives) are also well suited.

Photo of Tatyanka's dress with a skirt with soft reguilinFor processing the bottom of the skirtto give it extra fluffiness, you can use a wide, soft regiline.

As dubbing on the collar and facing, you can use both dublerin and adhesive interlining. Of course, for a collar made of thin cotton fabric, you should choose interlining.

Fabric consumption with a width of 140 - 150 cm should be calculated using the formula:

Bodice length + Sleeve length + skirt cost + 10 cm

We measure the length of the bodice according to the pattern of the middle part of the shelf, the length of the sleeve (Dr) - we take the desired one. If you do not have enough experience, then it is better to measure Dr on the finished product. And the expense for a skirt can be as follows:

Do-it-yourself pattern of Tatyanka's dress - layoutCost per skirt = DU + 5 cm (tatyanka from one strip of fabric, as in Fig. 2)

Cost per skirt = 2Du + 5cm (tatyanka from two strips of fabric)

Features of do-it-yourself patterns of dresses of this style

Photo of Tatyanka's knee-length dress with a turn-down collarConsider the seam allowances and the fractional direction of the thread in the details of the cut (picture 2).

Please note that no allowances are made for the neckline, armhole and sleeve hem, because by adding an allowance to these cuts, you will make them shorter.

We add 3,5 - 4 cm along the bottom of the bodice in order to be able to accurately outline the line connecting the bodice with the skirt during the fitting, tying the bodice with an elastic band. It should be borne in mind that the elastic band with which you tie the bodice may not be parallel to its lower cut, its position will be determined by the features of the customer's figure.

At the bottom of the sleeve, add as much as necessary to process the bottom. If the processing is in the hem, 2 - 2,5 cm will be enough. Remember to compare the sleeve length of the pattern with the length you need.

The remaining allowances are 1 - 1,5 cm.

Shared direction on the details: we place the shelf on a piece of fabric, combining the shared direction with its middle line - a half-slide. And the back, combining the waist cut with the transverse direction. In other words, the waist of the back should be perpendicular to the edges.

The fractional thread of the sleeve can run along the part or “diagonally” if the sleeve needs to be cut along the oblique thread. If a sleeve of medium width can be cut both along a shared and along an oblique thread, then a narrow sleeve is cut out only along an oblique.

When cutting out a collar, keep in mind that the ends of the collar, if they are straight, should not coincide with the lobar or transverse thread (picture 2).

Regardless of whether the collar is removable or set-in, it is better to use a facing for a clean neckline.Do-it-yourself piping pattern for a dress with a turn-down collar

You can cut out the facing according to the patterns of the front and back, but it is better to use the finished product after trying on and processing the shoulder sections (Fig. 3).

It is also better to cut the collar after trying it on, based on the length of the neck of the product, and not the formal size.

We cut out the facing from doubler without seam allowances, and then, after gluing it on the remnants of the fabric, we cut it out with the necessary allowances - at the junctions of the facing parts. In this case, the allowances for the semi-skid (center front line) and for the middle seam of the back (picture 3).

How to sew a step-by-step Tatyanka dress with a turn-down collar

Photo of a variant of a dress sewn on a pattern with a turn-down collarWe start sewing with the processing of the bodice - overcasting the sections (except for the armhole and neck), basting and lightly ironing the sections. In addition, you should take a hidden or false zipper. Then we perform a fitting, on which, in addition to marking the length of the bodice, it will be possible cut the armhole.

You can also assemble the skirt before trying it on.

See video master class on different types of assembly

It is also not superfluous to process the sleeve before trying on: stitch and iron the tuck, and then overcast the vertical sections, stitch the seam and iron it.

After stitching in and sewing in the sleeves, it remains to connect the bodice with the skirt and the neckline-collar.

Perhaps you will need sewing master class on sewing a hidden zipper with a foot that comes with a household sewing machine. This method with preliminary tacking of lightning to the product is suitable for beginner couturiers.

And also video tutorial on sewing a zipper without tacking, but with the help of another foot. Similar paws exist for both household and industrial machines.

LEARN MORE how to sew a collar, see two sewing video tutorials. The first lesson tells about cutting and duplicating the collar according to the finished pattern, the second - directly about sewing the collar.

When the collar is ready, it should be swept in and sewn into the neckline and finished with a facing as usual.

All that remains is the processing of the bottom, which is shown in dress sewing video tutorial
