What to sew a women's demi-season coat from

If you like complex classic solutions, then you should opt for the traditional "coat" fabrics. These include drape, boucle, tweed and ratin, as well as more modern and fashionable loden and cashmere.

For an extravagant and simple coat with an English collar, you can choose a footer or neoprene.

Double-sided cloth is an intermediate option in complexity. Cloth is more difficult to sew than footer, but if the wrong side is beautiful, you can do without lining and doubler, simplifying the technology of cutting and sewing to the maximum.

Aside from the obvious fabric choices, a jacket collar coat can be made from any sandwich fabric. It can be a "sandwich" jacquard, or raincoat fabric with a flannelette inside.

The choice of size, as with other oversized products, is preferably done not by number, but by comparing the size of the pattern with a coat or jacket with a suitable size and taking into account what exactly you will wear under this coat.

Seam allowances

The seam allowances are almost the same as the allowances for a classic jacket coat.

We add 1-1,2 cm to the middle cut of the back, shoulder, side, rim, front and back cuts of the sleeve, as well as to the cuts of the collar.

To the sprout, neck, cuts of the side and selection (if it is not one-piece) - no more than 0,3 - 0,5 cm.

On the bottom - 3 cm.

For lining, shoulder-side, front-back sleeves, collar - 1 - 1,2 cm. Up to 3 cm can be added along the middle seam for blind slots on the lining, but if the width does not allow, you can lay it with an average cut on the fold.

On the bottom we add "more" - 5 - 7 cm, it is better to cut off the excess on the fitting. On the bottom of the sleeve - 4 - 5 cm. On the armholes, sprout and neck - 0,3 cm (this allowance is obtained when you cut it out, keeping a thin stroke line).

By burlap - at will. If the hands are large, then you can add 1 cm round, for small hands - do not add.

On the cut of the connection of the side and the lining, we add a double allowance - 2 - 2,5 cm.

How to cut an autumn-spring coat with an English collar

We start by making a copy of the shelf pattern. We cut the copy along the line of "selection and lining" (picture 2).

Now consider cutting a coat of coat fabrics (picture 3).

Do not forget about the most important rule: if there is a pile, it should be on all the details in one direction. If, when cutting a dress made of pile fabric, the pile must be directed upwards, then for a coat it is better if the pile is directed downwards.

For fabrics with very short pile, whether it is directed up or down is not particularly important, but it is imperative that it is directed in one direction on all details.

So, the fabric is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned (picture 3). Coat patterns are laid out economically. The pick-up is placed next to the shelf to get a one-piece. Lobar - parallel to the edge of the side and semi-skid.

Lobar back - along the midline, in other words, the middle seam should be "oblique".

After the front and back are cut out, the rest of the fabric is unfolded. A sleeve pattern is laid on the fabric reversal. The lobar is parallel to the midline. After the sleeve is outlined, the fabric can be folded across if the fabric is lint-free (boucle, loden, tweed, etc.). Or cut one, then the other sleeve so that the pile is in one direction.

The lobe of the upper collar should run parallel to the midline, but do not rush to cut the collar! Leave it to cut for a while after processing the shoulder seams. Then you will know exactly the length of the neckline and easily select the desired collar size.

Now about cutting a coat made of footer or neoprene (picture 4).

The first difference will be the absence of a middle seam - the backrest pattern is laid on the fold of the fabric. In this case, the fold can be combined both with the middle line and with the line of the middle seam.

The pick-up can be made as one-piece or cut-off, as shown in the photo.

If the footer is on fur with a pronounced pile direction, then the pile must be directed down on all details, otherwise the clothes will ride up.

Open lining (picture 5) is not difficult. The fabric is folded in half, the details are stacked "jack".

How to sew a women's demi-season coat with your own hands

Consider only the simplest sewing option - from the footer, since for home couturiers, working with other fabrics is in many cases doomed to failure. It will not work to sew a decent coat from a drape with an English type collar according to the description, without having the skills of a tailor of outerwear.

The footer does not require the tailor to duplicate the collars and collars, does not require wet-heat treatment and a mannequin to fix the WTO form.
