pattern of a Tatyanka dress with a life-size semi-rack sheet 1The set of patterns for Tatyanka's dress with a half-stand includes (Fig. 1):

  1. back bodice pattern;
  2. shelf patterns - the middle part of the bodice with warehouses;
  3. the middle part of the bodice without a warehouse;
  4. lateral part of the bodice of the shelf;
  5. a sleeve with warehouses on an okat;
  6. burlap pockets.

The pattern of the “Tatyanka” skirt is a rectangle, therefore the patterns are not included in the kit, but the cutting of the skirt is described in detail below.

This style of dress is suitable for most types of figures and for any height, since the length of the bodice can be easily changed during the fitting.

For sewing, you can use a variety of stable and low-stretch medium-weight stretch fabrics. For example, dress jeans, poplin, thick heavy silk, jacquard and stable knitwear.

pattern of a Tatyanka dress with a life-size semi-rack sheet 2Fabric consumption for a Tatyanka dress with a half-stand will be:

Bodice length + Tatyanka skirt length + 15 cm for seams and processing

But, if you need a very puffy skirt, then the skirt will need 2Du (length of the skirt) and then the flow formula will look like this:

Consumption for the bodice + 2Du + 20 cm for seams and processing

Consumption per bodice from 110 to 130 cm with a width of 140 cm.

Sewing features of this dress

pattern of a Tatyanka dress with a life-size semi-rack figure 2First, let's consider the details of the bodice (Fig. 1), figure out why the second part of the middle part of the shelf is needed (Fig. 2), where to make a zipper and talk about pockets and allowances.

So, you will even need a zipper, despite the rather large neckline. The zipper should be sewn to the middle seam of the back if the skirt will have a middle seam or to the side seam if the skirt will have a side seam. The zipper should be located on the area from the base of the shoulder blades (or chest) to the level of the hips, then the dress will be comfortable to put on.

But ... There is always a "but"! In this case, these are pockets in the side seam. If pockets are planned in the side seam, then you should not make a zipper there.

Separately, I would like to speculate about the middle seam. The bodice has a middle back seam, which provides an additional fit, but it may not be on a Tatyanka skirt.

In fact, we have only two options for tailoring a skirt:

  1. From one strip of fabric 1,4 m wide - not too wide and not recommended for maximum length;
  2. Of the two strips 1,4 m wide - good for maxi.

pattern of a Tatyanka dress with a life-size semi-rack figure 3And here a dilemma arises: to make a middle seam on a Tatyanka skirt, if it is of two stripes (Fig. 3) or to transfer pockets.

To transfer the pockets from the side seam (Fig. 4), simply mark and cut out the darts on the front panel of the skirt. The indent from the side seam (edge) is about 5 cm, the tuck gap is 3 cm, the length is up to 40 cm. Only the upper part of the tuck should be cut so that the pocket burlap can be sewn on, therefore, it is convenient to mark the tuck according to the burlap pattern. Of course, when marking, the front panel should be folded in half, and marks for stitching burlap (green crosses) are applied after cutting out the tuck, like notches 0,5 cm long.

Let's go back to Fig. 2, to figure out why you need a pattern of the middle part of the shelf without a warehouse.

This pattern is useful not only if the folds from the neck on the bodice are not needed, but also to check the accuracy of the folds. That is, after the folds on the bodice are swept up and ironed, fold the middle piece in half and attach it to the pattern without folds to check congruence.

In addition, according to the pattern of the middle part of the bodice shelf without a warehouse, it is convenient to cut out the facing (Fig. 2). Although, instead of facing, you can cut out the entire middle part and get a lined bodice. The double middle part will look good on dresses made of stretch or thin silk fabrics.

Allowances for seams (Fig. 2-3), one might say, are ordinary - 1 cm, except for the bottom of the shelf, but we don’t add along the top of the stand, neck, armholes and rim. No allowances are needed for burlap either - they are already added to avoid confusion. Please note that a large, at least 3 cm allowance is added along the bottom of the bodice. We need it for the fitting, which should determine the length of the bodice for a particular figure.

How to cut a Tatyanka dress with a semi-rack (Fig. 3).

pattern of a Tatyanka dress with a life-size semi-rack figure 4We fold the fabric in half face inward, combining the edges, we base one of the cuts, that is, we align it in such a way that two ideal right angles form between it, the edges and the fold.

We outline the skirts, measuring twice from the base cut

Du + hem

We draw horizontal lines, but do not cut off yet.

On the rest of the fabric, we lay out the details of the bodice, sleeves and burlap, if the burlap of the pockets is cut out from the same fabric.

If the bodice and sleeve fit without problems, cut out the bodice, sleeve and skirt. Then - burlap and facings. Although, you can wait with the facings until fitting - all of a sudden, you want to adjust the neckline and the upper cut of the rack.

How to sew a dress with a half-stand with your own hands step by step

  1. We start by assembling the bodice (with an iron!) And we fasten a zipper to it. We assemble the sleeve, assemble the skirt, if there are warehouses, mark the warehouses or perform assembly.
  2. See how to mark warehouses on a Tatyanka skirt
  3. И video master class how to assemble in different ways
  4. And if there are pockets, we make pockets. When making pockets, pay attention to the fact that the top edge of the burlap must be sewn to the waist section after joining the bodice to the skirt. The sequence for sewing pockets is as follows.
  5. We sew the burlap to the sides of the same tuck or to the side cuts of the front and back panels, overcast and iron the seams. Then we grind and overcast the whole burlap with the upper ledge and iron the pockets again.
  6. After that, we do an example.
  7. When trying on, it is important to accurately determine the level of the waist, for which tie the bodice with a linen elastic band. If the dress is going to have shoulder pads, add shoulder pads. Please note that the elastic band may not run parallel to the lower cut of the bodice, but symmetry must be observed.
  8. Having marked the waistline with a thread lining, put on the sleeve and specify its position on the figure. Then, fold in the sleeve and baste the bodice again. Specify the position of the sleeve and pin the skirt with pins if it is already ready.
  9. After that, you can connect the bodice to the skirt.
  10. See sewing master class video dresses about connecting the bodice with the skirt
  11. And finally, you can sew a zipper and process the bottom.
