Before cutting, we will consider the options for the style and accurately calculate the fabric consumption. Of course, it is advisable to carry out calculations before buying fabric, but in practice it turns out quite differently: first the fabric, then the calculation, then one more cut is bought and - “cherry on the cake” - sewing from the leftovers.

The biggest detail is the half-sun maxi skirt. Its cost is:

Skirt length should be measured while the customer is wearing the shoes she will be wearing with the dress. We measure from the waist to the floor. We lay 3 cm for the lining and processing. The approximate length of the skirt (Du) in the cut is about 110 cm.

Thus, the expense for the skirt will be up to 280 cm.

Shuttlecock - can be cut according to the recess pattern, but it is better along the largest arc to make an assembly.

The length of the upper shuttlecock, taking into account the hem, is 20 cm, the length of the lower one is 25 cm. Thus, the cost for shuttlecocks will be about 170 cm (Fig. 2).

The consumption for the bodice is up to 45 cm. This is taking into account seam allowances. A bodice of small sizes can be cut out by placing its pattern inside the shuttlecock (Fig. 2). With a large bodice, this will not work.

A simpler sewing and economic version of this style is a frill instead of a frill (Fig. 3). In this case, the cost per frill will be 90 cm. The width of the upper frill in cutting is 20 cm, the lower frill is 25 cm.

The next step is the seam allowances. In this case, only for the bodice. The middle seam of the back, side, upper cut is 1 - 1,2 cm. We do not add allowances along the armhole, but 3 - 4 cm along the waist. We need an allowance for the waist to try on and determine the waist level exactly according to the figure, that is cutting and sewing technology is the same as for other cut-off dresses.

Cutting dresses according to the finished pattern for beginners

We start by cutting the half-sun skirt. We lay out the fabric in a spread and measure the Du (length of the skirt) along one of the edges. Next, we lay the notch and again measure the length on the other side of the notch along the same edge. We measure the length of the skirt several times in all possible directions from the arc of the notch. Cut without seam allowances.

To prevent the middle seam of the skirt from looking tight, you can cut off small sectors adjacent to the hem, as shown in fig. four.

And we move on to cutting out the shuttlecock and bodice. The fabric is folded in half face inward, the edges are aligned.

Cutting frills is simpler than cutting frills (Fig. 3) - these are 4 strips across the entire width of the fabric. Cutting is more convenient to carry out in three stages.

Sewing a dress to the floor step by step

First, we assemble the bodice for fitting, tack the zipper to the allowances of the middle seam and make a frill.

On the frill, you should make a “drawstring” to pull the elastic, pull the elastic and pull it off. At the fitting, you will adjust the tension of the elastic band. The frill prepared in this way (already pulled together with an elastic band) is swept to the bodice.

We grind and iron the middle seam of the skirt, leaving the area under the zipper unstitched.

We try on the bodice, mark the waist, after tying it with a linen elastic band. We sweep the bodice and skirt.

The second stage of fitting is the alignment of the length of the skirt.
