How to embroider a men's shirt on a typewriter

How to embroider a men's shirt on a typewriter 1When you start embroidering on a typewriter, many questions arise.

Some of the most important ones are what interlining to use and how to embroider a pattern that does not fit in the hoop.

How to embroider a men's shirt on a typewriter 2In addition, after watching this video tutorial on machine embroidery for beginners, you can figure out which embroidery is better - machine or manual.

I embroider a polo shirt (T-shirt) in the traditional Ukrainian style.

The design imitates cross stitch...

I'm starting to embroider a men's polo shirt. Another name for "teniska".

I have a ready-made design for embroidering such a shirt on a typewriter. I ordered it from a friend of the developer. The design is not unique, but adapted at my request for this style.

As you can see, the design is rectangular, so I'll have to cut out the neckline.

I start by modeling the templates for the base of the shirt: I cut off a piece of the front and add it to the back. Now you will have to cut off precious embroidery much less.

I will be embroidering on a white canvas, which is usually used for sewing bed linen. It is a blend of cotton and linen. I love the density of this fabric.

First, I measure the width of the shelf from the edge at its widest point, measure this distance and draw a straight line parallel to the edge.

This is a line of semi-skidding, that is, the middle of the shelf and the middle of the embroidery.

Then I trace a fragment of the neck and shoulder to imagine how the embroidery will be located.

First, I trace on one side of the half-skid, then, I shift the shelf to the other side of the half-skid and do the same stroke.

I think the distance to the edge of the fabric is enough to hoop it, but if anything, it will be possible to move away from the edge.

Now interlining.

I already have my first cross stitch experience.

This is a women's cambric blouse, I embroidered it, putting two layers of water-soluble interlining on the bottom of the fabric.

Now I will put two on top, I hope that this will make the cross even more prominent, and the embroidery itself a little less dense. Interlining is soluble, you have already seen this in one of my videos. The dimensions of the non-woven patches are approximately 50 by 50 cm.

I impose, combining the semi-skid and the middle.

It remains to lay a line in the center of the embroidery in order to facilitate the hooping and re-hooping of the product or to sweep the interlining and fabric with large, 8-10 cm, oblique stitches.

I perform stitches with a water-soluble thread so that I don’t dig it out later, for machine stitching - a water-soluble thread is needed only from above.

The bobbin thread is also a special one, which is used for machine embroidery as a bobbin thread… the stitch length is maximum.

Let's omit many hours of embroidery and return to work at the moment when you need to embroider the last, third, fragment of the shelf. I embroider in fragments, since the whole embroidery does not fit in my hoop.

A little about hooping.

We hoop with maximum tension and make sure that the place of embroidery falls into the hoop area accessible for embroidery, that is, it is not too close to the frame.

More importantly, if the pattern has a rectangular shape, then it should be parallel to the sides of the hoop. As guidelines, we use the marks on the hoop and the frames of the drawings, which are embroidered in crimson.

Now we will deal with them again ... when joining the last part of the embroidery.

On the screen of the machine, we see the pattern itself, which we will embroider, a tool for its positioning and a positioning counter.

I press the background recognition button to see how the pattern will be positioned relative to the existing embroidery.

When the camera has determined the position of the already existing pattern, I can move the hoop to accurately position the not yet embroidered fragment.

And by combining, I embroider a raspberry frame.

If the frame does not match, I start over: I cut out the line, set the corrected position and embroider the frame again.

As you can see, I still missed a little.

The first embroidery!.. what can you do!
