Dress pattern "cut-off with a bow" 40-52 pic1The consumption of fabric for a dress with a bow with a maximum length of the skirt will be up to 280 cm with a fabric width of 140 cm.

For sewing, you can choose both stable and stretch fabrics with low stretch. But in any case, the fabric should be quite thin, dense weave, drape well and wrinkle-resistant, since it will be problematic to iron such a sleeve after washing. It is better to give preference to synthetic fabrics that do not wrinkle and after washing easily restore the original ironing.

So, any thin but dense synthetic fabric is well suited for sewing a dress with a bow. For example, dense crepe, satin, taffeta.

Cutting and sewing a dress "cut-off with a bow"

Dress pattern "cut-off with a bow" 40-52 pic2Let's start with why we need a second sleeve - a sleeve with a vertical fold. Of course, it can be used as a simplified version of the sleeve, but if you are processing a sleeve with transverse folds, as in the photo, it will come in handy during processing in order to compare the sleeve blanks with it after tucking horizontal folds.

Please note that allowances of 1 cm (Fig. 2) are added only along the “vertical sections” of the sleeve and along the bottom. No allowances are needed for the okat.

Equal thread - along the part.

Bodice seam allowances are normal:

shoulder, side, relief, middle back seam - 1 cm;

on the bottom - 3,5 - 4 cm (such a large allowance is necessary for fitting);

allowances are not added along the sprout, neck, armholes and cut of the selection.

Anticipating the question why, I will answer if you add allowances for the sprout, neck and armholes - they will become shorter and this will make it difficult to try on.

The share thread of the back is perpendicular to the waist line, for the barrel - along the part, for the shelf - parallel to the line of the edge of the side.

Let's stop for a while on the shelf (Fig. 2). Please note that the pick is one-piece. In other words, the shelf pattern and the selection pattern are combined with butt tape.

The one-piece collar significantly reduces the processing time of the beads and fasteners. Notches are made on the pattern of the front and back to determine the half-slip line - the middle line of the product, which coincides with the middle line of the body.Dress pattern "cut-off with a bow" 40-52 pic3

And a bow collar - allowances of 0,7 - 1 cm. Please note that the bow can be extended to almost any length according to your desire. It is only necessary to extend the cut lines in parallel and shift the midline. But still, half of the bow should not be longer than 120 cm.

Cutting skirts is best done after trying on the bodice, since the length of the notch should correspond to the length of the bottom of the bodice. You can also choose the largest of the provided recesses and slightly fit the skirt, connecting it with the bodice.

Cutting the bodice, sleeves and collar-bow does not have any difficulties (Fig. 3) the parts fit in the most economical way, taking into account the allowances for the seams and the shared direction of the thread. You can only add that the excess allowance along the middle seam of the back can be cut off directly when sewing. The notches of the half-skid must be transferred to the details of the cut.

After cutting, the selection is duplicated with a very thin knitted dubbing or not duplicated at all, but it is necessarily ironed along the line of the edge of the bead and stitched with large (7-8 cm) oblique stitches.

Then, the bodice and sleeve should be collected and ironed for fitting. If the dress will be worn with a shoulder pad, then the pads are pinned to the shoulder seams.

A little about the assembly of the sleeve. First, horizontal warehouses are swept and ironed down. The result is compared with a sleeve pattern with one vertical pleat. Then, the vertical warehouse is swept up, it is ironed so that the allowance in the warehouse is evenly distributed on both sides. The tuck is ground down and ironed down, the seam is swept and ironed. Of course, you can simply assemble along the edge, having previously cut off all the “houses” of the folds.

At the fitting, we start with the bodice: not only the degree of fit is specified, but also the outlines of the armholes and neck, as well as the exact length of the bodice.

See how to cut armhole

To determine the length of the bodice, tie the figure with a linen elastic at the waist and mark the length of the bodice along it.

Please note that the position of the elastic band and the lower cut of the bodice may not be parallel to each other. The "excess" is not cut off, the line of connection with the bodice is outlined with a thread. The symmetry of this line is required.

This method makes it possible to accurately fit the bodice for a figure of any height.

When you have decided on the armhole, neck and bodice length, you should try on the sleeves. Warehouses at the same time should be swept up. Then, the sleeves can be rolled up and the bodice can be tried on again.

When the fitting of the bodice is finished, you can measure the length of the connection line with the skirt and cut out the skirt by selecting the notch of the desired length.

Please note that if the dress is tight, then you will need an additional zipper in the side seam or in the middle seam along the back - up and down from the waist by 10 - 15 cm. If the bodice is loose, and you can wear it fastened at the waist , then no additional clasp is required.

Another nuance that needs to be taken into account when cutting a skirt in a dress with an additional fastener: in the skirt you will have to make a seam at the back, and the notch should be 2-3 cm longer (this is taking into account the seam).

Sewing a dress with a bow after trying it on is no longer a big deal. Do not forget to process the ledge on the neck (from the edge of the bead to the half-skid is 1-1,2 cm) before stitching the bow collar.
