How to sew a dress?

Usually they ask “how to sew THIS dress?” and attach a photo.

In fact, all dresses are sewn in the same sequence:

1. A shelf is made (darts, seams, reliefs, pockets, as well as other complicating elements and small details are processed).
2. At the same time, operations on the shelf go through the stages of copying, marking on the mirror side of the shelf or on the mirror shelf,
3. basting, stitching (or stitching) and ironing. Don't forget the iron! It's the most important.

Beginning tailors should also remember to perform sequential operations on both shelves.

For example: transfer already marked darts from the left shelf to the right; stitch tucks on the left shelf, then on the right; iron the tucks on the left shelf, then on the right ...

1. After the shelf, the back is made (darts, seams, reliefs, etc.).
2. Then, "collect" the sleeve.
3. We sweep the side and shoulder seams of the shelf and back.
4. We carry out a fitting, on which we clarify the balance of the product (the dress should not “dangle” back or to the front, the shoulder seams should run along the shoulder from the side point of the neck to the shoulder point (see “Taking measurements”). We outline a new shape of the neckline and armhole. balance, we specify the degree of fit - we "regulate" the side seams.Apply a sleeve to the armhole, outline three points of joining the sleeve with the product.
5. After trying on, we carry out a fitting: we fold the product in half from the inside to the wrong side (because we have all the fitting marks on the “face”), pin the side and shoulder seams, armholes, and neck with pins. We cut out the armholes, the neck and the sprout according to the marks set on the fitting.
6. We complete the processing of the side-shoulder seams.
7. We knit and stitch the sleeve.
8. We process the neck (turning, edging or with a collar) and the bottom of the product.

If the dress is detachable at the waist, then points 1 - 4 are applied to the processing of the bodice and for fitting we should also make a skirt.

The fitting in this case includes everything that is described in paragraph 5, plus the markings on the bodice of the line connecting the bodice to the skirt. Before trying on, it is necessary to baste the zipper.
