2. How to cut a cocoon dress with a middle seam according to a finished pattern

We add seam allowances directly when cutting - 1 cm per seam, except for the neck. If you add an allowance to the neck, it will become much shorter, so we leave the neck without an allowance. Above the shoulder tuck is a “house” so that the tuck does not tighten.

In the corner formed by the bottom of the sleeve and the horizontal seam of the shelf, a notch is made (picture 2) required for clean processing of these sections. The length of the notch is equal to the width of the seam allowance, that is, 1 cm.

It is enough to step back from the edge of 2 - 3 cm so that the seam becomes oblique and the appearance of the product improves. Bias seam is preferred in all stable fabrics, especially synthetics. For stretch, option “a” is also suitable.

Cut without middle seam - figure 3 g - the last option (Fig. 3d) also allows you to abandon the middle seam in the lower part of the shelf, but by cutting the pattern along the "side" line (it is marked on the drawing). Pattern cutting is shown in fig. 2 in a bubble. In this case, the flow rate will be up to 200 cm.

What layout is better?

Option "a" is optimal for stretch, "b" - for stable fabrics, "d" - if you want to abandon the middle seam at the bottom of the shelf.

The processing of the neck is best done with the help of turning. The facing is cut out according to the same pattern or on a dublerin product without seam allowances.

After cutting the main part, glue the dubbing blanks onto the fabric, while you can combine the facings into one part, and add seam allowances to the fabric at the junction of the facing fragments.

3. How to sew a dress step by step

1. stitch, overcast and carefully iron the middle seams of the shelf;
2. overcast and fold the bottom of the "sleeve", iron it carefully;
3. stitch, overcast and carefully iron the horizontal seam of the shelf;
4. overcast the sections of the middle seam of the back;
5. process the neck with a piping;
6. stitch the middle seam, leaving 8 - 10 cm unstitched on the clasp, iron it;

8. process the bottom of the dress into a hem with an open cut - overcast, fold once and carefully iron.
