A set of patterns for a cocoon dress with pockets combined

(picture 1)

  • back details - "middle" and "side";
  • shelf details - “middle”, “barrel with burlap” and a coquette;
  • pocket burlap (separately);
  • valves - 3 options in three sizes;
  • non-stop sleeve (shirt) and a sleeve with a fit and an elbow tuck narrowed to the bottom.

Neck facings are not included in the package of dress patterns, as they are cut out along the back and yoke. Below is an explanation of how to cut them.

Style and fabric consumption

Oversized dress pattern with pockets combined rice1This style of oversized dress is suitable for all types of figures of any height.

The consumption of fabric for a dress made of one fabric, depending on the size, will be from 150 to 260 cm, with a fabric width of 140 - 150 cm.

Now about the consumption for the combined model, as in the photo.

How to sew a cocoon dress with pockets according to the finished pattern pic2Checked fabric will need from 90 to 125 cm, depending on the size and with a width of 140 cm or more. When buying tartan, add the length of one rapport of the cage to the expense. If the cell is large or asymmetrical - from one and a half to 2 rapports.

A plain fabric for a combined dress will need from 110 to 160 cm with the same width.

Below, from the description of the layout options, the calculation of the flow rate will be more understandable. Do not forget that the most accurate flow rate can only be calculated by performing a preliminary layout with ready-made patterns of the desired size.

And three more important points when calculating cutting:

  • calculate the consumption, with the desired length of the product and the desired length of the sleeve;
  • consider the length of the zipper, as the length of the product may depend on it;
  • if you want to save a little, cut out the “burlap” part from a strong lining fabric;
  • for a bias cut in plaid fabric, do the layout immediately before buying from the store.

What to sew a cocoon dress with pockets combined from

Sewing a dress dress cocoon with pockets combined according to the finished pattern fig3We choose for sewing fabrics of a dress assortment or a “sports” assortment. When choosing companion fabrics, it is very important that they are close in texture or at least approximately the same thickness.

You can choose from both stable and stretch materials.

For example, a woolen tartan can be completed with plain wool, and knitwear with printed knitwear.

This style can also be sewn from fleece - plain and plaid or from fleece in different colors.

Everyone's favorite footer will also work. Of course, we combine the footer with the footer. When choosing a footer, pay attention to the width of the fabric - it is better to calculate the consumption using a preliminary layout.

You can also use a bike or stretch velvet, which is used for sewing pseudo-tracksuits. The consumption of velvet will also increase compared to the declared one due to the peculiarities of cutting pile fabrics - the pile should look up on all details without exception.

How to cut a dress according to a ready-made oversized pattern

photo dress cocoon with pockets combined 1We start, as usual, with the choice of size, based on our own preferences for freedom.

Seam allowances - 1 cm, but there are exceptions (drawings 3 и 4).

We add 2,5 along the bottom of the sleeve and the bottom of the dress if we process these sections into a hem with an open cut (they swept over and folded it once). If we process the bottom of the dress with a drawstring, then we increase the allowance to 3 - 3,5 cm.

We do not add allowances for the armholes, the neck and the detachable cut of the facings. We do not add pockets to the burlap along the cut of the half-skid, so as not to add thickening under the zipper.

Let me remind you that the semi-skid is the middle line of the shelf of the product and the middle line of the body, passing through the jugular cavity and the navel.

More about turning (picture 2).

We first cut them out of dublerin or non-woven fabric according to the patterns of the middle part of the back and along the yoke of the shelf. No seam allowances.

Seam allowances should be added later, after dubbing blanks are glued to the fabric. You will add 1 cm each, with the exception of the sections of the sprout and the neck, as well as the detachable sections of the facings (which will be overcast).

The width of the facing is about 4 cm. Pay attention to how the facing for the shelf is cut out - it looks more like a pick.

Now about layout options

The cutting of a one-color dress is shown in 3 drawing. The fabric is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table - as usual.

Patterns are laid out taking into account the share direction, which is indicated in the drawings.

Separately, you need to dwell on the share direction for the valve. If the valve is made of plain fabric, then the upper valve - lobar is parallel to the midline, the lower one - lobar can be arbitrary. From a fabric in a cage, the valve can be cut along the oblique. In any case, it is advisable to choose the location of the valve cutting. This should be done especially carefully on a large cage.

If the dress is combined (picture 4), then in the most economical layout, the tartan folds in half along the line of symmetry of the rapport without distortions with a clear overlap of the transverse threads of the cells. In this case, the edges are parallel.

When laying the back part and the shelf part, keep in mind that the cells along the side seams must strictly match, so the “jack” layout is only suitable for a symmetrical pattern.

Bias cut is not considered in this description, since the layout may vary depending on the features of the cage pattern.

How to sew a dress with your own hands at home

Dress sewing sequence:

  1. turn and iron the flaps and the entrance to the pocket, make a notch on the seam of the “relief-entrance”, which will limit the length of the entrance; if a finishing line is provided, lay the finishing line.
  2. sew the detail “barrel of the shelf-burlap” to the middle part of the shelf and stitch the burlap; do not grind the sacking along the half-slip.
  3. overcast the relief and burlap of the pocket, carefully iron; half-skid for overcasting
  4. process with overcasting and careful ironing the reliefs of the back, the yoke seam, the side and shoulder seams, the darts on the sleeve, if the sleeve is with a fit.
  5. if the sleeve is non-stop, then the side seams must remain unfinished in order to sew in the sleeve; the sleeve with the fit is first stitched in and then sewn in.
  6. the facings are grinded together, the seams of the stitching of their fragments are ironed out, the flying seams are overcast.
  7. turn the neck without turning half-slip.
  8. sew a zipper, process a yoke on a half-slip; put the burlap under the zipper along the half-slip, you can pre-stitch it to the shelf next to the zipper line, it is better not to hem along this cut so as not to create an additional thickening under the zipper.
  9. process the bottom
