3. Description of the style design of this shirt dress

This model of a shirt dress is made in military style.

The dress is detachable at the waist with a bodice loose at the waist and a fluffy skirt of six or eight wedges (at the request of the customer and the tailor). In the middle of the front wedge is a zipper. There is an inverted pleat on the back of the bodice.

The sleeve of the shirt cut - non-stop - can be cut, both with a cutout along the upper rim, and without it.

4. What to sew a military-style shirt dress from

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be from 250 cm to 400 cm.

Consumption 250 cm - for the smallest size 38 and the shortest (according to the pattern) skirt of six wedges.

Consumption 400 cm - for the largest 64th size and the longest (according to the pattern) skirt of six wedges.

For a more accurate calculation, after choosing the length of the skirt, it is recommended to perform a preliminary layout of the patterns BEFORE BUYING the fabric.

You can choose a fabric, both from an assortment of cotton fabrics, and from silk.

Thin linen, chintz, thin denim, dress cotton satin, poplin - silk and cotton are suitable.

Marquisette, cambric, muslin can be considered less suitable for this style.

Staple and crepe de chine can be considered completely unsuitable. When sewing from these fabrics, you will have to abandon most of the functional decorations and the military style itself.

For spring or autumn, thin woolen fabrics can also be used.

Heavy dense fabrics should also be avoided if a skirt of maximum length is planned.

6. How to cut a shirt dress cut off at the waist

How to cut a military shirt dress according to a finished pattern (Figure 2)As mentioned above, small sizes have two variations of the bodice - with a bust tuck and without a bust tuck.

Girls with a kinky figure and / or large breasts are advised to choose a bodice with a tuck. For girls with small breasts and / or a stooped figure - a bodice without a tuck.

Larger sizes will definitely require bust tucks.

Please note that the cutting of dresses for subsequent individual tailoring at home is different from the cutting for tailoring in mass production and / or tailoring for an abstract figure.

The determining moment is the fitting, which is desirable to be divided into two stages - fitting the bodice and fitting the dress. On the fitting, among other things, it is recommended to determine the location of the pockets on the bodice, their shape and size.

The cutting begins with choosing the length of the skirt based on the Du measurement - from the waist down the side of the figure to the desired length and choosing the length of the sleeve.

Then, the size of the wedge in width and the number of wedges are selected. How to navigate? We proceed from the fact that the length of the waist cut of the skirt should be greater than the length of the waist cut of the bodice. The skirt before connecting with the bodice is slightly or strongly gathered. On the vast majority of female figures, a pleated skirt looks better than a pleated bodice.

Formula for the six-blade: Three lengths of the waist section of the wedge are more than half the length of the waist section of the bodice.

For the eight-piece: Four lengths of the waist section of the wedge are more than half the length of the waist section of the bodice.

We prepare patterns of pockets and valves for the bodice by cutting out along a larger contour in order to try on and select the desired size during the fitting.

Patterns of a simple military shirt dress for the summer with sleeves and pockets photo 4Seam allowances 1 cm. Exceptions - the neckline, armholes, hem and cut of the waist of the skirt - allowances are not added. But along the bottom of the bodice it is worth adding 3 - 4 cm to complete the fitting. On the bottom of the skirt, you can add 2-3 cm to the bottom of the skirt (aligning the length from the floor) and processing the bottom.

The share direction for details is as follows: in the back, the share is parallel to the midline, in the shelf and for the selection - along the edge of the side (it is also a semi-skid here), for wedges, sleeves and collars - the share is along the center line. For pockets - across the entry line, for the "upper" valves - across, for the "lower" - along.

For a skirt pocket, the fractional is indicated on the drawing and must coincide with the fractional direction of the wedge. The flap of this pocket can have any fractional direction, depending on the design and on the chosen fabric.

For straps - fractional along the part. Please note that the length of the straps will need to be clarified before cutting.

Cuff for this model is not required, you can do without one-piece cuff.

For a one-piece cuff-lapel, you need to add along the bottom of the sleeve

2 finished cuff widths + 2 cm for hem

And the usual cuff in the cut has dimensions

Cut-to-length cuff width = 2 Finished width + 2 cm

Cut-out cuff length = Wrist girth + 5 cm + 2 cm

The cutting sequence depends on individual tailoring does not exist separately from the fitting and sewing sequence.

7. How to sew a military-style shirt dress with your own hands

  1. Cut out the bodice, sleeves, skirt and skirt pocket.
  2. Prepare for fitting the bodice. Shoulder seams can be immediately treated with a double or linen seam. Sweep the tuck and side seams by hand or machine, iron. Take lightning. Prepare shoulder pads.
  3. Process the sleeve seam and process the cutout along the rim with an oblique trim (turn over or overstitch).
  4. Prepare the skirt: process the valve, put on and stitch the pocket, grind the wedges.
  5. Trying on: put on the bodice, put on the shoulder pads, tie the bodice with a linen elastic band, outline the waist according to the figure, adjust the tuck for the chest in length and height. If necessary, you can trim the neck and armhole. You can immediately sweep the bodice and skirt, sweep the sleeve. Try on again. Choose the style of the pockets on the bodice, choose the size and outline the position of the pockets on the bodice.
  6. Treat tabs, flaps, pockets and cuffs.
  7. Stitch the tuck and side seams, sew in the sleeve.
  8. Connect the bodice and skirt. At the same time, the skirt is gathered a little or more, along the bottom of the bodice, lines can be laid with a rubber thread.
  9. Having measured the length of the neck on the bodice, cut out the collar.
  10. Stitch collar.
  11. Throw in the collar.
  12. The second fitting: “beat off” (measure from the floor) the length of the skirt. See what bugs need to be fixed.
  13. Process the bottom into a hem with a closed cut - double hem.
