Sewing a dress of this model is within the power of a novice tailor (see photo for Fig. 1). A dress with a "swing" neck can be recommended even as a first product.
Of course, the task is greatly simplified thanks to ready-made dress patterns, which can be downloaded almost free of charge at the following link:

How to cut a dress according to a pattern
After downloading the pattern and making patterns, as the instructions explain, we proceed to cutting.
If you are cutting a stretch dress and are going to sew it knitted stitch, seam allowances should not be added, we cut out the details for the stroke line.
I note that this model can be cut without darts or mark darts with truncated tops (Fig. 1).
To save fabric, cutting is done in two stages: first, cut out the front and back, having previously folded the fabric in half along the width of the layout, then fold the fabric in half along the width of the sleeve pattern and cut out the sleeve.
When folding the fabric, do not forget that the edges should be parallel between themselves and the edge of the cutting table.
And most importantly - notches at the side points of the sprout and neck - without them the product cannot be assembled.
If you are cutting a dress out of wool, silk, or other inelastic fabrics, you will need to add seam allowances, as these fabrics are more loose than stretch fabrics and require a different seam treatment (fig. 2).
So, seam allowances.
Shoulder, middle, side, sprout-neck and front-back seams of the sleeve - 1 cm.
Okat and armholes - for the stroke line of the patterns. On the bottom and low sleeves - up to 3 cm.
For cutting, the fabric is folded in half, the edges are aligned.
The sleeve can be cut on an oblique.
At the side point of the sprout and the neck there are notches along the entire width of the seam allowance, that is, 1 cm.
How to sew a blouse or tunic according to a dress pattern
Now let's look at how to cut a knitted blouse (tunic) according to the same dress pattern (photo for Fig. 3).
Of course, we will have to shorten the patterns from below by the desired amount.
At the same time, it is not necessary to cut the pattern, you can simply bend the excess.
And to increase the depth of the “cutout” of the neck, the shelf is laid at an angle to the half-skid (Fig. 3).
The fragment protruding beyond the fold of the fabric should be copied and attached to the side seam.
Option to cut a swing dress with an opposite fold in front
Another very simple version of the “swing” dress is with an oncoming warehouse in front (photo for Fig. 4).
This version of the dress can be cut from both stretch and non-stretch fabrics.
Consider cutting from fabrics of non-stretch dress assortment (Fig. 4).
It is recommended that before buying a fabric, make patterns and perform a preliminary layout, taking into account allowances for an accurate calculation of consumption.
We cut the shelf along the waist and we actually get a pattern of a straight skirt. The waist is shown on the patterns with notches.
We apply the lower part of the shelf (PP skirt pattern) to the fold of the fabric with an indent in the warehouse.
The optimal indent (allowance) to the opposite warehouse will be 16 - 20 cm.
If this stock allowance does not fit the width of the fabric, the bottom of the shelf should be cut after the back and bodice of the shelf have already been cut, folding the rest of the fabric in the most economical way.
It is worth noting that a smaller allowance for the opposite warehouse does not look good in the product.
How to sew a dress with a complex skirt according to the pattern
More experienced couturiers can go further and cut out a dress with a more complex skirt (photo to Fig. 5).
Look for patterns of this full-size skirt in my book. “Cutting and sewing. Universal patterns for all occasions ".
Cutting is carried out in two stages: the back and bodice of the shelf - the first; the lower part of the skirt (fabric in a spread!) - the second.
Please note: the style of my skirt (Fig. 6 a) is slightly different from the style shown in the photo.
In addition to the above, you can also sew a swing dress with skirts from my book. "Cut and sew on any figure without adjustments and alterations."
Full size patterns and detailed cutting and sewing instructions are included.

Of course, you can cut the "swing" with both the "sun" skirt and the usual "tatyanka".
Patterns of the skirt "sun" see here
The Tatyanka pattern is a rectangle in which the height is the length of the skirt, and the width is the length of the hem.
The choice of fabric for sewing a dress
When choosing a fabric, remember the advantages of stretch: you don’t need a “zipper”, cutting and sewing is simplified.
And do not forget about the shortcomings of stretchable fabrics: if the figure is not perfect, its details will become public, so you will have to choose corrective underwear.
But, after all, sewing clothes with our own hands allows us to save. Why not please yourself with another new thing from the saved money?
