The set of patterns includes: a bodice pattern, a sleeve pattern and a notch pattern for cutting the "sun" skirt (picture 1).

The expense will be from 2 to 6 meters, depending on the style of the skirt (two options for skirts for beginners are offered), its length and the length of the sleeve. Next, calculation formulas for different cutting options will be presented, but it is recommended to buy fabric after preliminary layout.

The model is suitable not only for slender ones, so only very curvaceous ladies of short stature should refuse it.

For tailoring, you can use any dress fabrics, starting with thin dress "wool" and linen, and ending with a thin jacquard.

Chiffon, poplin, any dense silk and chiffon will look good in this model. Special chic - white cambric or gray linen with hand embroidery.

From knitwear, both dense and thin materials with a low coefficient of extensibility can be considered. It will be interesting to look thin fabrics of cotton assortment with a stuffed cage.

How to cut a dress with your own hands

Before making patterns according to PDF pattern (picture 1) You must decide on the length of the sleeve and the style of the skirt - "Tatyanka" or "sun".

For the "sun" you will need a recess pattern and for this option, I recommend making the back and shelf separately by cutting out the tuck.

This will allow you to make the dress less voluminous at the waist and, if desired, attach a “zipper” braid to the side seam.

✂ Option for cutting a dress with a Tatyanka skirt

First, consider the cutting option with a skirt "Tatyanka" (figures 2 и 3) as simpler.

On the 2 drawing a typical mistake of beginner cutters is shown, but according to this layout, we can very accurately calculate fabric consumption.

The cost for this style of dress with a Tatyanka skirt will be:

(Du + 2 cm for processing) + (bodice length + 6 cm for processing) + (sleeve length + processing)

As you can see, it is proposed to add a large allowance to the bottom of the bodice and the bottom of the sleeve.

For the bodice, an allowance is needed so that by putting on the bodice and tying it with a belt, one could decide on the size of the overlap. Allowance on the bottom of the sleeve - for a large hem, so that the wrong side of the fabric does not look out.

The remaining allowances are 1 cm, except for the armhole. We cut the armhole WITHOUT allowance, since any allowance will reduce its length.

Now the correct version of cutting the dress with "Tatyanka" (picture 3):

1. We fold the fabric in half, aligning the edges, and cut off the “tatyanka” rectangle.
2. Then we fold the fabric in half along the width of the “shelf-back” part, place the pattern with a half-slide on the fold of the fabric and cut it out with the necessary allowances.
3. The third stage is cutting the sleeves: we fold the rest of the fabric along the width of the sleeve.

If you have a small size, then the sleeve can fit next to the bodice and then cutting will take place in two stages.

The fabric is folded in half face to face and the edges are aligned, but the fold is made along the cross section.

From the fold along one of the edges we measure the length of the skirt, apply a notch for the "sun" and measure the length of the skirt again. We press the recess pattern with weights or pin it with pins, circle it.

From the stroke line we measure the length of the skirt several times in different directions and smoothly draw the bottom line.

In the same way we cut "sun" of maximum length for a plaid dress:

We arrange the rest of the parts in the most economical way, taking into account the seam allowances mentioned above.

Having cut the “sun” skirt, do not forget to get rid of the equity cuts - picture 5.

Thus, the fabric consumption will be:

Step by step instructions on how to sew this dress for beginners

1. First, we grind the details of the bodice and sleeves, we carry out the drawstring along the upper cut. You can also immediately process the drawstring and the bottom of the sleeve, if you already have no doubts.
2. Then you should try on the bodice to determine whether additional straps are needed along the upper cut or only a drawstring with an elastic band is enough, what amount of overlap is complimentary for your figure.
3. To do this, just tie a belt around the waist.
4. Having determined the amount of overlap, the excess allowance can be cut off.
5. After that, connect the shelf with one half of the "sun", and the back with the other.
6. Make a few stitches with rubber thread up from the waist.
