Attention! you need to measure the length of the skirt ONLY IN HIGH HEELS! For this style, Di is measured by a half-skid - the middle line of the shelf - from the waist to the floor.

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be 270 - 280 cm. This is while maintaining the length of the pattern.

Consumption is indicated without taking into account the “cover” (lining) of the dress, which can also be cut out from the fabric of the “top”. But since the cover should not be made longer than to the point of the top of the wedge, the expense for it will be one length + 5 cm for processing.

Please note that the length of the cover can be quite small, for example, to the area of ​​the bodice correction. A short case is a good alternative to piping the armhole and neckline, especially if the neckline is deep.

What to sew an evening dress from

For a fishtail dress, thin fabrics that are light enough in weight are suitable. For example, thin silk crepe, crepe satin or other fabrics from the silk range.

Stretch fabric of medium stretch is also suitable, but the choice of stretch must be approached carefully. Usually, such dresses are strongly stretched under their own weight, so when cutting it is important to take into account the coefficient of extensibility.

Perhaps the most important components of success in sewing a floor-length dress are a good choice of fabric and an accurate height fit of the pattern.

How to cut an evening maxi dress

When cutting from silk fabric, we add seam allowances of 1,2 - 1,5 cm, except for the sprout, neck and armholes - to these sections - 0,3 - 0,5 cm, no more.

The lining for a silk dress is cut out according to the same patterns, but you can use a cheaper fabric.

Great accuracy is not required in determining the longitudinal direction of the side wedge.

For cutting from stretch fabric, you can use a solid shelf. As mentioned above, a side wedge is not sewn to this shelf. Such a “trick” will help make the shelf lighter in weight and it will stretch less.

We do not add seam allowances for stretch, you can not cut off the barrel from the shelf in order to turn out a semi-relief.

If you are cutting a dress with a deep neckline, it is better not to do it right away, but only mark it on the fabric with an ironing line in order to finally determine its depth during the fitting.

Don't forget to also add notches on the cuts at waist level and at the level of the top of the wedge, so as not to warp the seams when sewing.

How to sew a fishtail dress

Sewing a year dress is difficult only if the sewing technique fails. Stitches should not be tight or too stretched. The seams of the lower part of the dress - in the area of ​​\uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe year, fall on an oblique thread, which in many cases will allow you not to perform notches and limit yourself to only wet-heat treatment of the seams.

As for the processing of cuts of the neck and armholes, the best solution for this would be a cover (lining).

For silk, it is also possible to process the neck and armholes with oblique trim by turning. Fringing is also possible in this case. But games with bias binding are not always suitable for delicate fabrics. Therefore, for couturiers who do not have experience with fine fabrics, lining processing is preferable.

The bottom can be processed with a Moscow seam or a rolled seam, turned with an oblique inlay or pickled.

Dress sewing sequence

1. We grind the middle seam, tacking the zipper on top for trying on. We carry out the WTO (we iron).
2. We grind the tuck, pull the tuck in the middle to the line and iron it.
3. We grind the side wedge, overcast and delay the seam. In the classic year, the seams of the wedges are ironed “on edge”, but you can also iron the seam in the usual way, bending the allowance.
4. We grind the side of the shelf, combining the notch at the waist, iron it, slightly stretching the allowance in the waist area to the line. Additional tuck is not processed yet. Let's see what the sample shows. For stretch, an additional tuck is not needed, if you need to fit the dress more tightly, you can adjust the side seam.
5. We grind the side wedge to the shelf, WTO seam.
6. Sweep shoulder and side seams. Lightly iron.
7. First sample. First balance - the dress should not crawl back or forward, then the cutout on the back. Fit correction is the last step.
8. After trying on, we sew a zipper and process the bodice with a lining.
9. Side seams.
10. The second fitting is the correction of the bottom.
