Pattern of a detachable hoodie dress with pockets view2The cuff on the bottom of the dress is not included, as it is a strip of fabric.

The hood can be replaced with a stand-up collar - the pattern of this collar is also a strip of fabric.

Below are the details of cutting rectangular parts.

Style and fabric consumption for a straight dress

The style of this straight dress Suitable for most body types. A seam with soft pleats at the top makes the cut suitable for figures with large breasts.

The total consumption of fabric for a dress with a double hood and double cuffs ranges from 230 - 250 cm of fabric with a width of 140 cm.

With the same width, if the cuffs and hood are cut out from a companion fabric, then the main fabric will need about 200 - 210 cm and a companion - 50 cm. With a width of 140 cm.

Cutting from a footer with a width of 180 cm or more will require an expense of 130-140 cm. Below you will find an explanation why the consumption starts with these figures.

The consumption of cuff fabric is about 20 cm, when dialing only on the lower cuff.

From what to sew a detachable hoodie dress with pockets

Pattern of a detachable hoodie dress with pockets pic1In principle, almost any dense knitted fabric of low or medium stretch will do.

Also, fleece, footer and cooler fabric.

Knitwear imitating hand knitting should be considered unsuitable.

Please note that a thinner cooler will work well with fleece and footer.

You will also need cuff fabric, it is dovyaz or ribana.

Sewing a detachable hoodie dress with pockets with your own hands

Pattern of a detachable hoodie dress with pockets pic2Let's start with the most obvious question - why do we need a pattern of a whole shelf - so that, after assembling the parts of the shelf, we can make sure that the sewing is correct.

Next, burlap patterns are made for the kangaroo pocket.

But according to the same patterns, ordinary pockets can also be cut, in which there are two burlaps that are not combined with each other. For split pockets, use a size 38 half-skid line. For small sizes, the line can be towards the side seam.

What is a half skid? The middle line of the shelf and other details of the front of the product. The half-skid corresponds to the midline of the human body - it passes through the jugular cavity and the navel. In the vast majority of cases, the direction of the lobar thread coincides with the half-skid line.

Seam allowances

Seam allowances can be omitted. By tracing the patterns on the fabric with chalk or soap and cutting out, including the stroke line in the part, you will get an actual allowance of 0,5 cm. This is enough when sewing from stretch fabrics.

How to cut a dress: layout

Pattern of a detachable hoodie dress with pockets pic3Perhaps the most difficult moment in preparing to sew this dress is the moment when you need to decide how many medium seams there will be on the parts that should be solid.

Definitely, without seams, we must cut out the upper and lower parts of the shelf; But the back can be with a middle seam. The seam can also have burlap details, while it can be offset from the middle.

An example of how to avoid unnecessary seams is shown in Fig. 2. This is a layout for a product that is sewn from one fabric.

On the left is the layout of the back and two pieces of the shelf. The fabric is folded in a special way and has two folds - see diagram in the bubble.

After the back, the lower part of the shelf and the burlap-turning are cut out, the fabric is folded in half in the usual way and the rest of the dress patterns are laid out on it - fig. 2 right.

The share direction coincides with the folds of the fabric and the middle lines of the parts that fit on these folds.

The length of the sleeve should also coincide with its middle line - fold the pattern in half lengthwise, the fold of the pattern should be parallel to the edge. The same applies to the patterns of the cuffs. Although, for the “lower” cuff, the share direction is not so important. We also lay the “lower” hood arbitrarily, based on economic considerations.

The calculation of the width of the cuff blank on the bottom is as follows:

2 finished cuff widths + 2 cm

The length of the blank should be 10 or more centimeters shorter than the cut of the bottom of the dress.

On fig. 3 shows the layout for companion fabrics. On the left - jersey 140 cm wide, on the right - footer 180 cm wide.

As you can see, to save fabric, the details of the burlap will be made with a seam.

How to sew a do-it-yourself hoodie dress at home

Pattern of a cut-off hoodie dress with pockets photo1As you already know, you will need an overlock with knitted stitch and a machine with an adjustable zigzag.

The sewing sequence is as follows

  1. Process the pockets on the bottom of the shelf, iron the pockets.
  2. Sweep up soft folds on the top of the shelf, iron them.
  3. Connect the upper and lower parts of the shelf, tighten the seam, compare the assembled shelf with the pattern of the whole shelf - they should be the same.
  4. Process the "upper" and "lower" hoods, connect the hoods and prepare for sewing into the neck.
  5. Stitch and iron the shoulder seams.
  6. Stitch in the sleeves without tucking them in.
  7. Stitch and iron the side seams.
  8. Sew on the hood.
  9. Process the cuffs - stitch the “upper” and “lower”, stitch the seam, iron the seams and turn out, thus preparing for stitching to the sleeve.

10. Process the cuffs for the bottom of the dress.

11. Stitch the cuffs to the sleeves and the cuffs to the bottom of the dress.

12. Final ironing of the product.
