Fabrics for sewing such a dress

Only stable and sufficiently dense fabrics or fabrics with a rigid synthetic base are suitable for sewing this dress. It is also possible to sew this style on a cover, but in this case, the level of complexity rises to a professional one.

If you do not consider rare fabrics, then you can sew a “space” dress from dense jacquard or “sandwich” jacquard. Suitable for heavy guipure, and even dress neoprene.

For the rigidity of the skirt and the bottom of the sleeve, you can use both a wide soft reguilin and a rigid mesh. You can also make an organza cover.

In a word, the selection of a set of fabric and stock is the most difficult for this style and requires some experience, especially if there is an intention to imitate the most closely. dress in the photo.

The consumption of fabric with a width of 150 cm for a "space" dress with a sun skirt will be 260 cm, with a two-sun skirt - from 350 to 400 cm.

The calculation of consumption is made taking into account the maximum length of the skirt according to the patterns. Choosing a dress pattern option

Starting work on this dress, you need to decide on the choice of pattern option (picture 2).

If you are a very experienced tailor and know how to skillfully try on cut-off dresses, then you can recommend the middle part of the shelf No. 3 - with a round neckline, in order to make the neckline the most complimentary for the customer's figure during the fitting.

The middle part of the shelf No. 1 is suitable for a brave girl who does without a bra and is ready for a very deep neckline.

The middle part of the shelf No. 2 is a version of the dress that can be worn with underwear.

As for the sleeves, you should choose between the usual flared sleeve, which has a center line equidistant from the "vertical" cuts (picture 2 bottom left), and a sleeve with a seam near the front roll line (picture 2 bottom right). In other words, between a regular sleeve and one in which the sleeve seam is shifted forward.

The second option has one indisputable advantage - when the dress is put on the figure, the seam on the inside will not be noticeable.

The choice of the method of processing the neck in models of such dresses

There are only two options - a cover or a facing.

The cover, which is better suited for sewing from transparent fabrics, is cut out according to the same patterns, and even better according to the bodice that has been tried on. The facing, which can be used for opaque fabrics, can also be cut according to the same patterns and according to the bodice that has been tried on.

Turning for opaque fabric, as well as for other styles, is cut out from dubbing without seam allowances.

The sleeve, so that the wrong side is not visible, can also be partially or fully lined.

The bottom of a flared sleeve can be worked into a hem, but a sleeve with a length difference will require turning (lining or turning) or edging the lower cut. For rigidity, under the facing or under the lining, you can substitute a “mesh” or soft regilin.

Seam allowances are standard. As for other detachable dresses, we increase the allowance on the bottom of the bodice in order to be able to qualitatively try on the dress. We do not add allowances along the cuts of the armhole and neck. The rest - 1 - 1,5 cm.

When cutting the skirt along the cut of the notch, we do not add allowances, along the cut of the bottom - at will.

Choosing a sun skirt pattern

Now about choosing a skirt: one sun or two suns? In addition to the pattern option, you still have to decide whether the skirt will be gathered or not assembled. On the patterns of skirts, both options without assembly and options with assembly are marked.

Another point is important, if you chose the option without assembly, then you should cut out the skirt only after trying on the bodice. In other words, we select the notch along the length of the bottom of the bodice.

If you choose the assembly option, then you can cut it right away.

So, open up.

The easiest option with a sun skirt (picture 3). The fabric is folded in half, face to face, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table. The maximum length of the skirt according to the pattern just goes to the width of the fabric 150 cm.

Skirt two suns (drawings 4 и 5) - the maximum length according to the pattern will not pass in a width of 150 cm. Therefore, two layout options are possible.

Please note that when cutting in a spread, it is advisable to cut the second parts not according to the patterns, but according to the details of the cut. This makes it possible to avoid turning paired parts and keep the same fractional direction in them.
