As always, processing should be considered before cutting. This must be done to determine what small details we need.

If you will process the neck with a piping, you should cut out the piping (picture 3). To do this, the patterns of the shelves and backs need to be circled on a doubler folded in half, mark the width of the facing 3,5 - 4 cm and cut without seam allowances. It is better to add allowances in the places where the facings are sewn (shoulder and middle seams 1 cm each) after gluing the adhesive blanks.

What doubler to take? Since you are using stretch with little stretch, you can use regular rather than stretch, but in this case you may need a fastener.

If you take a stretch dublerin, then it is necessary that all the lines used in the processing of the neck are elastic enough so as not to tear when putting on the dress.

The second option for processing the neck - using a transverse stretch strip is not very good if the stretch has low extensibility and high density. But this way will take less time and allow you to make the neck elastic enough to avoid processing the fastener.

DIY pattern of such a dress with a short skirt

Cutting dresses with a "short skirt" in order to save money is best done in two stages (picture 4).

First, fold the fabric in half face inward, aligning the edges, and cut out the sleeve, shelf, back and belt of the shelf.

We fold the rest of the fabric along the width of the skirt, and cut out the remaining strips of the cuffs and the back belt in a turn.

In this case, the width of the cuff will be about 8 cm, and the length is determined by the girth of the arm plus 2 cm for the seams.

Please note that when cutting stretch, you can not add to the seams where the knitted seam will be used.

And a few more words about cutting the details of the belt. Of course, it can be cut out with a regular strip, but in this case it will be more difficult to fit the product to the figure.

Open a floor-length year-length dress using this pattern

Cutting year dresses with a maxi skirt even more simple (picture 5).

Sewing should begin with assembling the bodice and assembling the skirt with a belt. That is, the details of the belt should be sewn to the details of the skirt, and then its vertical seams should be stitched.

The folds on the bodice are swept up, and the seams are ground down with a knitted seam.

Then, all seams and soft folds are carefully ironed and the sleeve is assembled.

To assemble the sleeve, you need to fold the cuff blank along the bottom and iron it, lay arbitrary warehouses along the bottom of the sleeve and stitch the cuffs with the sleeve. And then connect the sleeve seam.

This is the easiest, but not very "clean" way to process the sleeve.

If you first connect the ends of the cuff blank, iron the seam, iron the cuffs in half and connect with the already stitched sleeve with pleats along the bottom, you will get a “clean” one - all the seams will be securely hidden.

When the bodice, skirt with belt and sleeve are ready, the fitting is performed. On the fitting, you can cut the armhole, adjust the length of the bodice (since each person has a different ratio of the lengths of the front and back, the bodice can be shortened either in front or behind).

After trying on, you can process the neck, sweep in the sleeve and connect the bodice and skirt.

It is good if you do a second fitting to clarify the fit of the sleeve and the length of the product.

Please note that if you plan to use shoulder pads, then you need to carry out the fitting already with the shoulder pads, fastening them with pins to the shoulder seam.

And the length in “maxi” is measured when the customer is in the shoes that she will wear with this dress.

Processing the bottom of a stretch dress is traditionally done open hem cover stitch. But few people know that the stitching can be easily replaced.
