1. Description of dress patterns with wedges, a set of patterns

The difficulty level is simple, but it will require some cutting and sewing skills, as well as an understanding of the technology for processing individual units of the product to select the desired option.

The set of patterns of the dress includes (picture 1):

sleeve patterns - “simple” and consisting of two parts;

Cuff and waist patterns are not included, as they are rectangles, the dimensions of which are in the description below.

The style of this ethnic dress is suitable for most figures of different fullness and different heights. The pattern of the dress is developed on the basis of the boot cut.

Fabric consumption with a width of 140 cm varies between 330 - 360 cm, depending on the size.

Of course, it is better to check the length of the sleeve and the length of the dress before cutting and adjust if necessary.

Preference should be given to natural cotton or linen fabrics. Well suited, chintz, fine linen, shirt chintz and poplin. But silk fabrics will also look good.

Very thin fabrics such as batiste or chiffon are not too suitable.

Stretch fabrics can also be used, although this contradicts traditional ideas about ethnic clothing.

And definitely not suitable for dense denim and other heavy dense materials.

3. How to cut a dress according to a finished pattern

Before proceeding, you should decide on the processing of the neck of the product. This is necessary to determine the necessary allowance for cutting.

There are three processing options.

First: a drawstring - a double hem into which an elastic band or ribbon is pulled, the drawstring is tightened as desired. The product can be worn with open shoulders. The allowance in this case is 4,5 - 6 cm or more, depending on the width of the drawstring.

The second option: the neck cut is assembled, the product is tried on to correct the contraction and the neck is edged. Neck length is fixed. The processing allowance in this case is minimal - 0 - 0,5 cm.

The third option: using a rubber or silicone thread. In this case, the processing allowance is laid down based on how many lines of rubber thread you lay, that is, it will be in the range from 3 to 8 cm, since for the first line you need to deviate from the edge of at least 2 cm and There must be at least two lines. Elastic thread can be wound on a bobbin and simply stitched or sewn in a zigzag, so that later you can adjust the tie.

There is another point to which attention should be paid. This style of the pattern is not made on the basis of raglan, but on the basis of the Sapozhkov cut, but the sections of the sleeve that meet the armhole are further and in the drawing called "raglan" for a simpler understanding of the design of the product.

Now for the rest of the seam allowances. We add 1 - 1,5 cm to the cuts of the reliefs, side seams, as well as along the middle seam of the back. We do not add an allowance along the armhole, otherwise it will become much shorter. Along the "slopes" of the wedge and cuts of the sleeve - also 1 - 1,5 cm. At the bottom of the dress - 2,5 - 3,5 cm.

Careful attention should also be paid to determining the length of the sleeve and the allowance along the bottom of the sleeve. She (he) will depend on how much the neck of the dress is pulled together. The measurement of the sleeve length should be taken from the point of the neck on the shoulder of the customer and take into account the overlap on the cuffs. It is easier to determine the length of the sleeve on the fitting.

And one more question that needs to be solved before cutting: do you need a middle seam or a fastener on the shelf? If necessary, the half-skid (middle line of the shelf) when cutting should not fit on the fold of the fabric, but indented from it (picture 2).

Allowances for a solid shelf are shown on figure 2a, for a shelf with a seam and cuts of the "spread" type - figure 2b, and for a dressing gown with a fastener and a selection - figure 2c.

And, perhaps, the last question that needs to be decided before cutting: will the sleeve be cuffed, frilled, drawstring or edged.

As you can see, you can start cutting only if you clearly know how you will sew.

The rest of the cutting is not very difficult (picture 3). The large layout is shown on the left. Pay attention to the wedges, of which you will need 6 pieces - two wedges are laid in the middle line on the fold of the fabric. On the right is the layout for small sizes.

The cuffs and belt, as mentioned earlier, are rectangles, the dimensions of which are as follows.

To calculate the length of the cuff, you need to measure the circumference of your wrist.

Cuff length = Wrist circumference + 5cm

Cuff width = Two finished cuff widths +2 cm

The width of the belt is also calculated. The length of the belt should preferably not be less than 150 cm. The belt can be cut both along and across the fabric. See how it will be more economical.

4. How to sew a dress in a folk style with your own hands

We start with the "vertical seams" - the middle back or side seams and the seam of the sleeve.

These seams can be sewn, overcast (or edged) and ironed.

You can also use a backstitch or double stitch.
