Before opening the guipure, you should decide on the length of the dress. To improve accuracy, it is worth measuring not only the length of the product along the back and comparing it with a similar measurement of the figure, but also the length of the skirt - Du from the waist to the bottom.

Please note that waist darts can be omitted not only if the dress is worn with a belt. The fact is that chalk markings are very poorly preserved on guipure and it is difficult to maintain the required accuracy. If waist darts are needed, it is better to mark them later, already at the sewing stage.

Cutting the “top” of the dress is very simple - the fabric is folded in half, the front and back are located in a “jack” (Fig. 2). The lobar thread of the shelf is along the half-skid (midline), the lobar back is perpendicular to the horizontals of the waist and hips. Seam allowances of 1 cm for the middle seam of the back, side and shoulder seams. No seam allowances are added along the sprout, neckline and armholes.

When completing the cutting of guipure details, do not forget to put small notches at the level of the waist and hips along the side and middle seams.

Cutting the cover (Fig. 3) is also not difficult. But to save money, fold the fabric according to the width of the layout. Allowances for the side seams and the middle seam of the back should be larger than for guipure. If you added 1 cm for the “top”, then add 1,5 cm for the cover, later you can cut off the excess. To bend the bottom, 2,5 - 3 cm is enough. You can not add an allowance along the upper cut, and at the end be sure to make notches at the level of the waist and hips.

The belt - a strip of fabric - can be cut out both in the shared and in the transverse direction. The optimal width of the belt blank is 8 - 10 cm, the length is about 150 cm.

Now about how to sew a dress from guipure.

We start by processing the upper and lower sections of the cover parts. This must be done before processing the chest tuck and side seams. The upper cut can be edged or overstitched, the bottom can be folded with a closed cut (double hem).

After processing the upper and lower sections, the details of the “cover” and “top” should be carefully ironed and laid out on the table as follows.

First, lay out the details of the cover and, focusing on the notches, on top of them - the details of the "top". Guipure is basted on the cover with large oblique stitches (5-7 cm) along the contour of the parts at a distance of 3-4 cm from the cuts and tuck lines. "Vertical" seams can be overcast or edged.

Darts (breast and waist, if provided) are marked with patterns. It is better to mark with white threads, simultaneously sweeping the tucks along the contour. This is a reliable and fairly convenient method that allows you to assemble a two-layer product very accurately.

So, we got a shelf blank on the cover and two backrest blanks on the cover.

The next step is tucking the darts, the middle seam of the back and the side seams - just like with a regular dress. Do not forget to baste the zipper, after which you can try on.

When trying on, it is important to determine not only the degree of fit, but also to adjust the neckline and armholes, if necessary.

After trying on, everything is simple - we grind tucks and seams. We start with tucks, and after stitching them, we iron them. Now we grind and iron the shoulder seams and edging the armholes and the neck.

It remains to stitch and iron the middle and side seams, sew a zipper and edging the bottom.
