For sewing this dress, you can use almost all fabrics of the dress range, as the style is suitable for any season.

When choosing a fabric, it should be borne in mind that when sewing flared skirts, some fabrics will stretch in places where there is a bias thread on the skirt. Therefore, for fabrics that do not keep their shape, “tatyanka” skirts (from a strip of fabric) are recommended.

Fine linen with the addition of artificial fibers, poplin and thin jeans without elastane performed well in dresses with a sun and semi-sun skirt. Please note that all these fabrics today have some amount of synthetics added to them, which prevents shrinkage and gives the fabrics the necessary “stability”.

The sample that you see in the photo is sewn from dress wool that is less successful in this regard. In addition to the above fabrics, you can also use dense heavy silk and jacquard.

And pile fabrics - velvet, velveteen, velor - are absolutely not suitable for sewing this dress.

Consumption from 2,5 meters of fabric with a width of 1,4 m. The exact calculation of consumption depends on the choice of style and length of the skirt.

Consider the calculations of options, starting with the simplest.

For a dress with a Tatyanka skirt, which is cut without a pattern:

front length + sleeve length + DU + 10 cm;

For a dress with a skirt "sun" up to 50 cm long:

front length + sleeve length + 2Du + notch diameter + 10 cm

For a dress with a "sun" skirt longer than 50 cm, the calculation can only be approximate, since you need to know the exact length of the skirt:

front length + sleeve length + 3D + notch diameter

For a dress with a half-sun skirt, only an approximate calculation is also possible (Fig. 6). I start from a skirt length of 70 - 75 cm

2Du + notch diameter + front length + sleeve length

It took 3 m of fabric to sew the sample, while the Du in finished form was 90 cm.

In addition to the fabric, about 3 m 60 cm of soft regilin was used for the sample.
