The difficulty level of tailoring is simple. That is, a pattern for beginners is suitable, but it is desirable that this is not the first product, since you will have to sew in a sleeve with an assembly and process the neck.

The Tatyanka maxi dress model is only suitable for slender girls.

The patterns of the Tatyanka maxi dress are designed in two variations - for stretch fabrics and for stable fabrics (which do not stretch).

Each set of patterns includes (Fig. 1): the back of the bodice, the shelf of the bodice, and patterns of a narrow sleeve with an assembly along the rim. Skirt patterns are not included, as the skirts here are nothing more than strips of fabric.

Various lace fabrics and transparent fabrics are suitable for sewing this dress.

Lace fabrics can be stretch or stable. It can be “lace”, and heavy guipure, and embroidery on the so-called “mesh”, and stretch guipure. Lace fabric with scallops is also suitable.

For a transparent insert, the following fabrics can be used: "mesh" (stretch or stable), veil (microveil), gas, chiffon, organza (semi-organza). The main point to consider when choosing fabric to insert is the weight that it will be able to support. If the guipure fabric is heavy, and the insert is made of a stretch "mesh", then there is a possibility that it will stretch out a lot and the dress will become significantly longer. If a heavy hem is sewn with a “gas”, then there is a risk of seam shedding and therefore the seam should be made wider and stronger stitches should be used.

In addition, if there are no scallops on the bottom of the skirt, you can use soft reguilin to process the bottom.

Fabric consumption with a width of 140 - 150 cm should be calculated using the formula:

2 Lengths of the bodice + expenses for the skirt + 10 cm

If the length of the bodice can be easily measured from the pattern, then the expense for the skirt should be discussed separately, but in most cases it is equal to one or two lengths of the finished skirt plus 5 cm for processing.

Cost per skirt = 1,5Du + 5cm

If you are guipure or lace with scallops, then you should calculate the expense and cut it out taking into account the scallops.

Cutting and sewing Tatyanka's maxi dress made of stable lace fabric without scallops

Let's start with seam allowances and the longitudinal direction in the details of the cut (Fig. 2).

Please note that no allowances are made for the neckline, armhole and sleeve hem, because by adding an allowance to these cuts, you will make them shorter.

We add 3,5 - 4 cm along the bottom of the bodice in order to be able to accurately outline the line connecting the bodice with the skirt during the fitting, tying the bodice with an elastic band. It should be borne in mind that the elastic may not be parallel to the lower cut of the bodice, its position will be determined by the features of the customer's figure.

At the bottom of the sleeve, add as much as necessary to process the bottom. If the processing is in the hem, 2 - 2,5 cm will be enough. But before cutting, you should compare the length of the sleeve of the pattern with the length you need. It is more convenient to do this according to the finished product, in which the sleeves of the desired length. This approach will eliminate the error.

The remaining allowances are 1 - 1,5 cm.

The share direction on the details is not marked, since we place the shelf on a piece of fabric, aligning the share direction with its middle line - half-slip. And the back, combining the waist cut with the transverse direction. In other words, the waist of the back should be perpendicular to the edges.

The share thread of the sleeve can run along the part or the sleeve can be cut along the oblique thread (Fig. 3).

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the layout of non-stretch guipure: the fabric is folded in half, the edges are combined. And the parts are stacked randomly in the most economical way.

For a skirt, a strip of 1/3 of the desired length is cut out, then another of the same strip. And the third, exactly the same strip is cut out of a transparent mesh. This is for a not too fluffy skirt in one fabric width.

If you want the most fluffy Tatyanka skirt, then its width can be equal to twice the width of the fabric. And you have to cut out 4 strips of lace + 2 strips of transparent fabric.

A third option is also possible: 3 stripes of lace (one under the bodice, two under a transparent insert) + 2 stripes of transparent fabric. I like this option more and, in my opinion, it is more suitable for a stretch dress.

Cutting Tatyanka's maxi dress from stretch guipure is very simple (Fig. 4).

The fabric is folded in half, face inward, the front and back are laid on the fold, and the sleeve is arbitrarily. Below are stripes for a Tatyanka skirt. We cut out without seam allowances, as we will sew with a knitted seam on an overlock.

As for processing, in both cases the neck should be turned over.

By the way, we sew a stretch dress without a zipper.

In both cases, we start sewing with processing the bodice and trying on, on which, in addition to marking the length of the bodice, it will be possible cut the armhole.

You can also assemble the skirt by stitching all the strips together and completing the assembly before trying on.
