For example, I sew a dress from printed jeans, in which most of the fibers are cotton, which means that I take plain chintz or satin for the lining. If I sew from silk fabric, then I take silk for the lining.

3. How to cut a dress with a length difference according to the finished pattern

pay attention to Photo 1: the designer obviously made a design error - the lining is too short and the wrong side of the sleeve is visible. It is possible that the seam is also visible.

The design of the proposed pattern (picture 1) will eliminate such an unfortunate misunderstanding, since the only seam of the sleeve is located in the area of ​​​​the front roll (that is, the seam is shifted slightly forward), and the line of the open cut of the lining is located above the level of the elbow.

The sprout can be cut out in two versions - a cutout line is indicated on the pattern of the back (see picture 1 и Photo 2).

The facings of the neck-sprout can be cut out according to the same patterns as the bodice (picture 2). We cut out from dublerin, folded in half, with the adhesive side inward, without seam allowances.

Allowances will be added when we paste the details of the dubbing and we will cut it out.

Please note that allowances for facings are added only to the cuts of the connection of these facings to each other (picture 4). In this case, along the middle and shoulder seams.

A few words about cutting the lining (drawings 3 и 5). We will also cut it according to the pattern of the sleeve (straight or extended). Allowances only on the "vertical" seams.

We add the remaining allowances for the seams, as usual: shoulder-side seams of the front-back, front-back seams of the sleeve - 1 - 1,5 cm; neckline, armholes, collar and bottom of the sleeve - WITHOUT ALLOWANCES, since by adding an allowance along a concave or convex curve, you change its length, and this can greatly complicate the tailoring of the dress.

The middle seam of the back is 1 - 3 cm. Do not forget also a very important allowance of 3 - 4 cm at the waist of the bodice. It will allow not only to shift the waist line down if necessary during the fitting, but also to save the dress if it “sits down” after washing.

4. How to sew a dress with a Tatyanka skirt

When the sleeves and lining themselves are cut out, fold the sleeve and lining face to face and sew along the bottom with a seam width of 0,7 - 1 cm. If the fabrics are not loose, then the allowances can be cut to 0,3 - 0 cm, while doing well if the "top" allowance is narrower than the "lining" allowance.

Then be sure to cut (cut) the allowance. Especially frequent notches should be in the area of ​​the concave part of the bottom - literally after 0,7 - 1 cm! Otherwise, you will not be able to turn the sleeve inside out.

After that, the seam allowances of the stitching are folded onto the lining and adjusted to it. The line is laid on the front side.

The bottom is ironed, and if necessary, it is pre-stitched with oblique stitches up to 3 cm long.

Don't forget to exchangetat the upper cut of the lining.

The bottom is ready and now you should stitch the “vertical seams” of the sleeve and lining in one line. Overcast and iron the seam.

When the seam is processed, the sleeve is turned inside out again and another line is laid directly into the seam - it should connect the lining and sleeve.

The upper cut of the lining is hemmed with blind stitches or any other line.
