How to sew a boho-style women's jumpsuit with your own hands

When choosing the size of a jumpsuit or other oversized product, when you sew on a finished pattern, it is extremely important to choose the right size.

Unfortunately, there is no more reliable way than comparing the width of the pattern with the width of a similar finished product.

The allowed allowance for loose fit on the hips (PB) is 10 cm. For comparison, the PB for a straight skirt or dress pants is 2 cm.

We check the length according to the figure, based on the fact that the upper edge of the overalls should be located 10 cm up from the waist. When measuring the length, take into account the bottom of the lapel or cuffs.

For cutting, fold the fabric in half face inward, combining the edges. Patterns are laid out on the fabric in the most economical way, in compliance with the shared direction and seam allowances. An example layout is shown in picture 2.

When cutting, do not forget to make notches for processing pockets on the PP.

Seam allowances:

1. To the side, step cuts, the cut of the seat and the bottom of the bow - 1 cm each.
2. The clasp allowance has already been added to the top of the bow.
3. On the bottom - 2 cm for trousers without a cuff made of companion fabric. If there is a lapel or cuffs, then the allowance is not needed. In any case, you need to think about this moment before cutting.
4. On the upper cut, depending on the processing method - 1 - 10 cm. Possible options are discussed below.
5. To process the straps - 0,7 - 1 cm and the long strap should be extended to the desired length within 70 - 75 cm.
6. For burlap, allowances are not required, but if the hands are large, then you can add 1 cm "around" the burlap. We do not add allowances along the entry line and side seam in any case.

General sewing sequence step by step

The order does not differ from the sequence of sewing dress pants, except that some items are missing.

1. Processing pockets on PP with subsequent ironing.
2. Processing side and step seams - overcast, grind and iron. If the fabric is not too thick, then stitch, overcast both cuts together and iron.
3. Processing the seam of the seat bow.
4. We process the clasp like a trouser clasp or we make a snag if the clasp is not needed. With such a large increase, you may not need it.
5. Processing straps for straps.
6. Processing the upper cut with one of the options described above.
7. Lapel or cuff trim.

How to process the top cut of the "Charlie" semi-overalls?

The easiest way is to hem with an open cut, that is, overcast and bend once.

If the fabric you are using is too thick and heavy to fold over, the top cut can be finished with a thinner fabric, such as printed chintz or fine checkered or striped shirting. Finishing from such fabrics fits well into the boho style.

For processing, you will need a strip of fabric 12 cm wide. On the one hand, the strip of fabric is folded and ironed by 1 cm, on the other, it is stitched to the upper cut and ironed with a piping on the front side or on the wrong side.

If you need a drawstring, then you need to mark holes for the lace, duplicate the places of the holes, install accessories for the holes or baste the loops and thread the lace into them.

Then, a reinforcing line is laid “on the face”, it is also a decorative line, so you first need to mark it and bast a strip or a folded allowance.

How to handle the bottom cut of the boho bib pants?

The easiest option is to hem with a closed cut - fold twice, iron and secure with a stitch.

Can be processed with a cuff. Cuff - a strip of fabric, a rectangle.
The length is equal to the length of the lower cut of the leg, the width is twice the width in the finished form plus 2 cm. The stitching seam is overcast and ironed.

Processing with a lapel from a companion fabric is also not difficult, but the blanks are cut out according to PP and RFP patterns. Circle the bottom cut of the PP and ZP, as well as 10 - 12 side and step seams - get a lapel pattern.

The lapel is ground along the side and step cuts. The upper section of the lapel blanks is overcast, and the lower section is connected to the bottom of the leg, swept out and fixed with a line 0,5 - 1 cm from the bottom of the trousers and along the seams. The opening is ready.
