Sewing difficulty level: simple - the pattern of this dress is designed for beginner couturiers who have already sewn a skirt.

The “violet” dress model, like other styles of dresses with a “sun” skirt and an adjacent bodice (such as a sheath dress), suits most builds and figures. Despite the adjacent silhouette, this dress favorably hides all the flaws and is recommended for girls and ladies who have different sizes of breasts and hips.

The set of patterns includes bodice patterns and recess patterns for "sun" and half-sun skirts (Fig. 1). A notch for the half-sun has been added to please curvy girls who believe that the “sun” will fill them up.

When choosing a fabric for a “violet” dress, you should take into account that almost half of the dress assortment will suit you.

The only exceptions are highly stretchable stretch, chiffon and cambric. You should also not use a staple due to deformation during wear and washing. Velvet is not recommended due to the fact that on the skirts "sun" and "semi-sun" the pile will have a different direction.

But thin denim, thin dress linen, poplin, jacquard and, of course, dense satin will fit perfectly.

How to cut a violet dress

After printing out the patterns and choosing the right size, we begin to cut the dress from the neckline and armholes (Fig. 2).

To do this, we outline a fragment of the backrest pattern and a fragment of the shelf pattern. We trace and cut out the facings from the dublerin WITHOUT seam allowances.

And for the bodice you will need the following allowances:

shoulder-side sections - 1 - 1,5 cm each;

neck, sprout, armhole - without allowance;

on the bottom - 3,5 - 4 cm - for the convenience of fitting.

By the way, such a large allowance for the bottom of the bodice should not be cut off if you are sewing a dress from natural cotton fabric. If the product shrinks after washing, the bodice can be lengthened due to this allowance.

It has already been said that the consumption of fabric depends on the style and length of the skirt.

Let's start by cutting the "violet" with the "semi-sun" (Fig. 3).

Cutting is carried out in two stages. First, we fold the fabric in half face to face and cut out the bodice of the product, laying the patterns with a “jack”.

Then, unfold the fabric and cut out the half-sun skirt.

Consumption with a fabric width of 140 cm will be

After cutting the skirt, we lay out the facings in the most economical way on the remnants of the fabric.

Opening dresses with a skirt "sun" (Fig. 4-5) may look different.

If you have a size of 42-52 and Du is not more than 57 cm, then the fabric is folded in half, and the edges must be combined (Fig. 4).

The cost in this case will be

Shelf length + 6 cm + 2Du + Notch diameter for the "sun"

For sizes 42-52 with a longer "sun" skirt and for sizes 54 - 62, the consumption increases by about a Du (fig. 5) and will be

Shelf length + 6 cm + 3Du + Notch diameter for the "sun".

How to sew this dress?

Just like the rest of the New Look dresses:

collect the bodice (we grind the left side seam only from above);

try on (fitting the bodice can be done not only due to darts, but also due to the middle seam of the back);

process the neck and armholes with turning;

outline linyu connections with a skirt;

collect the skirt (we grind the left seam, stepping back from the top 10 - 15 cm);

connect the skirt to the bodice so that the side seams match

and sew on a zipper.

Please note that the simplest processing of the bottom of the skirt is open hem.
