How to sew a blouse, tunic or dress according to a sapozhkov cut pattern with embroidery

The style of this ethnic blouse, tunic or dress based on boots cut is suitable for most figures. But for owners of wide hips and a narrow shoulder girdle, it is recommended to wear the finished product, opening the shoulders.

Of course, such nuances should be taken into account when choosing the length of the sleeve.

But for girls and women with sloping shoulders, especially with a pear-shaped figure, “embroidered peasant lady” is not suitable.

The consumption of fabric for a blouse, dress or tunic "vyshyvanka young peasant woman" with a fabric width of 140 cm, will be the sum of the lengths of the blouse and sleeve, taking into account the method of processing the drawstrings and bottom:

What to sew such an ethnic blouse or dress from?

Preference should be given to natural cotton or linen fabrics. Batiste, chintz, thin linen, shirt chintz, poplin are well suited. But silk fabrics will also look good, starting with chiffon and ending with satin.

Not suitable for denim and other heavy dense materials. You can also use stretch fabrics, however, this contradicts the traditional ideas about vyshyvanka.

Cutting and sewing "vyshyvanka young peasant woman"

As mentioned earlier, when calculating the consumption of fabric, you need to decide on the length of the product, which depends on how you want to wear the embroidered shirt - pulling off the neck, as traditions prescribe, or opening the shoulders, as in a “lady peasant woman” dress.

You also need to know in advance the processing allowance for the drawstring, based on how many laces or elastic bands you want to put into this drawstring. On average, this allowance will be 2 - 4 cm.

If you are stitching the embroidered shirt with a rubber thread, then 1-2 cm is enough.

And the processing of the upper cut by edging will not require such an allowance at all.

Let's say we want to insert only one elastic band, so we add 2 cm “along the top”, we do not add an allowance along the armhole and “raglan”.

True, this is “not a real” raglan, but a Sapozhkov cut, but we will call the sections of the sleeve that fit into the armhole conditionally “raglan”.

The remaining allowances - 1 - 1,5 cm each.

Please note that you can cut an embroidered shirt with or without a middle seam on the back.

If the fabric is quite dense, for example, linen, then it can be done with a seam along the back, and on thin cambric it is better to transfer the seam to the side line.

Now consider both options for cutting.

For economical use of fabric, it is advisable to cut it in two steps - first cut out the back-shelf, then the sleeve.

So, for an embroidered shirt with a middle seam (picture 2) fold the fabric in half face to face and combine the edges.

We cut out the back-shelf with seam allowances.

Then, fold the rest of the fabric along the width of the sleeve, as shown in the bubble picture 2. The edges are parallel to each other.

The sleeve is also cut out with seam allowances.

If you want to cut an embroidered shirt with side seams, then the pattern should be cut along the side line (picture 3), and fold the fabric for cutting out the back and shelves, bending on both sides.

The edges should again be parallel.

The fabric folding pattern is shown in the lower bubble on 3 drawing.

The sleeve is cut out in the same way as in the previous case.

According to the same pattern, you can sew a few more styles if you use simple modeling techniques.

Now about how to sew.

We start with the "vertical seams" - the middle back or side seams and the seam of the sleeve.

These seams can be sewn, overcast and ironed.

You can also use a backstitch or double stitch.

After processing the "vertical" seams, the sleeves should be swept in and sewn in.

Overcast or hem the seam of the armhole.

The simplest drawstrings are made like a hem with a closed cut (double hem), but the line is not completely finished. An elastic band is pulled into the remaining 1 - 1,5 cm.

The tension of the elastic is adjustable on the fitting.
