How to cut chiffon

To begin with, it is not advisable to cut chiffon in a patternless way.

Even when cutting sun skirts»You should make a lunge pattern (see fig.), and mark the bottom line with a thin marker close to the fabric or pattern in color.

I will add that the markup is made with short (0,3 - 0,5 cm) and rare strokes.

Three ways to cut chiffon

1. Before cutting, lay a flannelette blanket or heavy cloth on the cutting table. Chiffon will slip less.
2. Lay a newspaper on the table, a cloth on top, then another newspaper, and a pattern on top. It is important that the edges of the newspaper match the edges of the fabric.
3. Spray the chiffon with hairspray.

And a way that I don't recommend.

Before cutting, the fabric should be gelled. This method requires experience and caution.

If you overdo it with gelatin, then holes form on the fabric from needle punctures and the product will have to be washed after sewing or in the process.

Another important point: the tailor's pins with which you pin the patterns to the fabric, and the needles for basting should be thin and perfectly smooth, that is, without notches.
