DIY pattern of a little black sheath dress with a bow

DIY pattern of a sleeveless little black dress with a bowThis is not the model on which you should learn to sew clothes from scratch at home. A novice couturier can be confused by both an asymmetrical cut and the manufacture of a bow.

To avoid mistakes when cutting, the patterns of the back and shelves should be laid on the fabric ALL with the inscriptions up or ALL with the inscriptions down.

Sleeve patterns and bow patterns are paired, so it doesn’t matter if you place them on the fabric up or down with inscriptions.

Cutting should be done with the fabric laid out in one layer with the wrong side up and with the edges parallel to the edge of the cutting table (pictures 2 and 3).

First, we lay out the patterns of the back and shelves, then the details of the bow.

How to cut a sleeveless dress like you see on the pictureshown in 2 drawing, dress with a sleeve - in figure 3.

About the direction of the shared thread in the details of the cut.

For the back, the lobar is parallel to the vertical midline and perpendicular to the horizontals of the waist and hips. For the shelf - parallel to the half-skid (middle line of the shelf) and also perpendicular to the waist.

The sleeve can also be cut obliquely - the options for the location of the shared thread are marked on the sleeve pattern.

Bant deserves a closer look. The details of the bow can be cut out with a share across the detail and along the oblique thread.

DIY pattern of a little black dress with a bow with sleevesAn example of a layout with paired parts with different directions of the grain thread is shown in figure 3.

Seam allowances, as in other models, depend on the processing method, which in turn depends on the properties of the fabric and the couturier's idea.

So, for example, the bottom of the dress can be processed, as in a hem with an open cut (overcast and fold once), edging or overstitching. In the first case, the seam allowance is 1 cm; no allowance is needed for edging and turning.

For the details of the bow, the edging should be laid in the allowance, that is, for the part that will be in the front of the product, the allowance for the seam should be 0,2 - 0,3 cm more. This is achieved very simply: first, the “lower” part is cut out with an allowance 0,7 - 1 cm and along it is already “front” with “additional” millimeters for piping.

The rest of the seam allowances are ordinary, that is, we don’t add sprout, neck, rounding, others - 1 - 1,5 cm.

The detail of the "jumper" for the bow is a rectangle 6 by 8 cm.

How to sew step by step this sheath dress with a bow

  1. We start by sweeping the folds.
  2. Having swept away the folds, we iron their solutions up so that the fold looks down or vice versa - this is optional. Of course, all folds must be ironed in one direction.
  3. In order for the fold to hold well, you can put an adhesive “cobweb” under the ironed “triangle” of the solution at the very mark. However, glue gossamer is not suitable for all fabrics.
  4. After processing the folds, leaving a mark until the final ironing, we assemble the product for fitting.
  5. The zipper can be both in the middle seam of the back and in the left side seam.
  6. If the dress has a sleeve, then we collect the sleeve. The bow can be made immediately or later.
  7. After trying on, we process the armholes with a stitch or we sew in and sew in the sleeve and process the bottom.

Processing a bow in a little black dress

  1. We cut out the dubbing without allowances for the seams and paste it on the “lower-inner” part of the “reversal bow”, which has a smaller seam allowance.
  2. As a backup material, we use a "collar" fabric.
  3. We grind two parts of the “bow in a spread”, leaving only their ends not stitched, we make notches, as shown in the drawing, cut off the excess width of the allowance and turn it inside out.
  4. Then, we straighten the edging and iron it.
  5. We lay arbitrary soft folds on the “face” of the bow.
  6. We repeat the same operations with the details of the “ends of the bow”.
  7. We fasten the blanks of the bow itself and its “ends”.
  8. Jumper. We bend the edges and iron it, you can glue it with a "cobweb".
  9. Fasten around the central part of the bow.
  10. It remains only to carefully sew the bow to the dress.
