Patterns of a sleeve and a narrow sleeve for a dress of a direct cutThe level of difficulty in sewing a dress is medium, and for a bolero it is high. You will need skills in cutting and sewing, as well as experience for trying on.

This style of dress is suitable for most types of figures, but the bolero will compliment only slender tall girls and women with a thin waist and narrow hips.

The set of patterns for Melanie's dress includes (picture 1):

Patterns for sleeves, backs and shelves for bolerosback and front patterns, as well as patterns of two sleeves with a fit.

The tapered sleeve of medium width is included in both gradations of sizes. Slim fit sleeves only available in sizes 40-52 and sleeves for full arms only available in sizes 52-64.

Melanie's bolero pattern set includes (picture 2):

Patterns of the back, front, shawl collar and raglan sleeves.

Please note that chest darts in the bolero are provided only for sizes 48-52. That is, sizes 40-46 do not have a chest tuck. If a chest dart is required for sizes 40-46, the dart line in size 48 (solid red) should be used.

Set of patterns of a straight dressAll sleeve patterns are "full length" and have ¾ length hem marks.

The consumption of fabric for a Melanie sheath dress for sizes 40-52 with a width of 140 cm will be 180-190 cm. The consumption for a bolero is 140 cm. The total consumption is 320 - 350 cm.

Fabric consumption for Melanie's sheath dress for sizes 52-64 will be about 200 cm.

Do-it-yourself pattern of a straight dress and a bolero

Do-it-yourself layout option for a straight dress with an original collarAs you know, the tailoring of any product requires preliminary thinking through the processing of complex knots even before cutting.

One of these nodes is a one-piece rack (picture 3). You can process it with a regular turning, just as you process a regular neck.

To maintain the utmost accuracy, it is better to cut out dubbing for turning according to the patterns of the shelf and back. Fragments of the facing of the stand can be combined already in the process of gluing the dubbing.

The biggest difficulty in sewing this ensemble is the processing of the collar and side of the bolero.

To cut the details of the collar-pickup, no additional patterns are required, just combine the patterns of the front and collar. When cutting, it is extremely important not to forget to make a notch at the transition point of the raglan line to the collar (picture 3).

Features of a do-it-yourself pattern of a straight dress

Pattern do-it-yourself boleroOpen the dresses of Melanie's sheath (figure 4 и 6) does not differ from similar models, so I will add only a few clarifications.

We do not add allowances to the upper cut of the one-piece rack so as not to distort the cut line.

If you use a narrow sleeve pattern, then it is better to cut it along the bias - this will save fabric and make the product more comfortable to wear.

When cutting large sizes with a sleeve pattern for full arms (picture 6), fabric can be saved by cutting the sleeve, extending the tuck up.

Features of a do-it-yourself bolero pattern

And cutting a bolero requires more detailed explanations (picture 5).

Layout option for a do-it-yourself pattern for a straight sheath dressIt is extremely important to observe the direction of the shared thread here.

The lobar thread of the back is parallel to the midline and perpendicular to the waist line, the lobar thread is along the half-skid. Lobar sleeves - along the "vertical" sections.

The shawl collar, theoretically, should be cut out in such a way that the “rake” line coincides with the shared thread. But there is another important rule that must be followed - the middle seam of the shawl should be "oblique".

Pay attention to the sequence of cutting the product. It is better to cut out the shawl after assembling the raglan, or cut it out with a large margin along the middle seam, or from the “rough” fabric.

Why do it? Firstly, the process of assembling a product for fitting does not give accuracy to the millimeter, and secondly, the neckline tends to stretch (especially in products without lining, where it is not possible to duplicate the back in a quality manner. This does not affect the fit, but will affect the size of the collar. According to For this reason, the dimensions are not marked on the collar pattern.

We choose the size of the collar not by the number, but by the length of the neck of the product. But let's get back to the threads.

The pick-up, turning into the collar, can be cut out arbitrarily, but it is still highly desirable that the share thread of this part does not coincide with the share shelf.

The seam allowances in Melanie's bolero also have some features associated with the need to perform a bridging (Fig. 3) at the transition point of the collar to the collar.

That is, for the detail of the pick-up over the point of the overcut, the allowance should be 0,3 - 0,4 cm more for the collar than for the collar itself. Accordingly, below the roll point along the edge, the allowance should be less by the same amount than along the lower edge of the shelf.

Dubbing is traditionally cut for the collar and hem, as well as for the bottom of the back and sleeves, which will be processed into an open hem.

And one more important point. As you have already read, the chest tuck is available only in sizes 48-52. For sizes 40-46 you can use the tuck line size 48 if needed.

Raglan sleeve assembly

First, we process the side seam, then the “vertical” seam of the sleeve and its tuck.

After that, we sweep the raglan, starting from the neck to the area of the shoulder blades and from the sprout to the tuck.

The rest of the seam, which will pass under the arm, is distributed evenly, remembering that the sleeve and side seams should not coincide.

For the convenience of “docking”, you can slightly deepen the line of the armhole for the back shelf or for the sleeve.
