The level of complexity of sewing is simple and the dress pattern is suitable for beginner couturiers who already know how to sew stretch and tuck in a sleeve. But calculating the amount of fabric and cutting may require special skills in cutting techniques.

Before buying a pattern and fabric, it is recommended to read the description to the end.

This dress pattern is only suitable for slender tall girls and can be sewn with a less deep neckline.

Stretch fabric. Thin and light knitwear is preferred, stretching equally in two directions (supplex). In the people, such a fabric is called "oil".

A set of dress patterns consists of the following patterns:

backs and shelves with assembly on the shoulder and waist (shelf); backs and shelves fitting without assembly; sleeves narrow and with assembly along the collar and along the bottom; grooves for cutting skirts sun and half sun (Fig. 1)

Cutting and sewing a "candid dress"

Let's start with the question: why do we need the second patterns of the shelf and back, which are without assemblies.

A shelf pattern with an assembly along the shoulder and waist is the “upper” bodice, and shelves without an assembly are the “lower” bodice, that is, the “lining” of the shelf, which will allow you to easily process the side and prevent the fabric from showing through.

Please note that in any cutting option, you will have to use both shelf patterns, connecting them end-to-end (Fig. 2).

But, if the stretch is not too translucent, you can take only a fragment of the shelf without assembly (Fig. 2 b).

Of course, for very thin transparent knitwear, the option with two whole patterns of shelves is more suitable (Fig. 2 a).

But the pattern of the back without assembly can simply replace the back with the assembly, if the back is not needed double.

The simplest option for cutting a dress will be cutting with a Tatyanka skirt (Fig. 3).

Please note: a fragment of a shelf without assembly, a back without assembly and a narrow sleeve are used.

For a skirt - two strips of fabric - Du (skirt length) is measured along the edge.

The disadvantage of this option is the skirt.

If you take one strip, it will not be puffy enough, and two stripes will give too much gathering at the waist.

You can not add seam allowances when cutting unstable fabrics, just cut them out beyond the outline of the pattern (that is, stepping back from the edge of the pattern 5 mm).

An exception is a waist allowance of 3-4 cm, which will allow you to carry out a quality fitting and outline the line connecting the bodice with the skirt.

Fabric consumption is calculated based on the length of the skirt:

2Du + shelf length + back length + 10 cm, which will be approximately 3 - 3,2 m of fabric with a width of 1,4 m.

Having found out the disadvantage of a dress with a Tatyanka skirt, we proceed to clarify the advantages and disadvantages of a dress with a sun skirt.

The first disadvantage is the consumption of fabric.

On fig. 4 shows the layout with a "sun" skirt with a length of 55 to 68 cm, depending on the radius of the notch.

The skirt will be without assembly at the waist and the cost for the dress will be:

2Du + Notch diameter + Back length + Shelf length + 10 cm

This is about 2,5 meters of fabric.

If you need an assembly at the waist, you can cut out two "suns". On fig. 5 shows the cut of the dress with two skirts "sun" of greater length. Attention! the fabric is spread out!

The disadvantage of this option is not only a high flow rate, but also that for a back without a middle seam, this already not small flow rate will have to be increased.

So, let's try to calculate the minimum flow rate at Du 75-80 cm:

3Du + 2Diameters of the notch + Length of the shelf.

This is 3,5 - 3,7 m.

With Du 1 - 1,1 m, the flow rate will increase to 4,2 - 5 m.

Consider cutting a dress with a half-sun maxi skirt without assembly (Fig. 6). This cutting option is also performed in a turn.

The consumption in this case is calculated by the formula:

2Du + Notch diameter + Sleeve length + Shelf length,

which will be about 4 meters.

And, accordingly, two "half-suns" will require us to

3 inch + 2 opening diameter + sleeve length + front length,

and this is about 5,5 meters of fabric.

Now how to sew such a dress.

We use a narrow zigzag and a knitted seam.

We start sewing by marking the line of semi-skidding of the shelf with notches and bending it along this line. We see a difference in the length of the shoulder cuts and therefore we fold or gather on a larger shoulder seam.

After completing the assembly and warehouses, we grind the middle seam of the one-piece collar of the shelf in such a way that both shelves are connected. Then again we bend the shelves along the half-slip, iron them and sweep them with large oblique stitches in this position.

Stitch the side seams.

Stitching the shoulder seam is very simple, but the difficulty is that after it you need to immediately switch to sewing a double collar into the sprout and back to the shoulder seam. You need to do this in one line. If you are not sure, then it is better to sweep it first.

The next step is sewing the sleeve seam and tucking in the sleeve.

The fitting aims to determine whether the shelves need to overlap one another or you will assemble the bodice and complete the dress with the same neckline as in the photo.

You can use the marks that are marked on the patterns as "notches on which the shelves are combined if you need a smell." Just line up these marks.

When the wrap is decided, assemble and refine the fit of the sleeve and the line connecting to the skirt.

Then everything is simple: the bodice and skirt are ground.
