After the patterns are ready, you must decide on the method of processing the bodice and only then proceed to cutting.

There are three options available to you in total.

Option one. Double bodice - when two identical bodices are cut out and reguilin is adjusted to the lower bodice.

In this case, the lower bodice can be duplicated.

The upper cut of both bodices is grinded, turned inside out.

Both bodices are stitched together at the seams.

Option two. Double bodice - all the same, but both bodices are folded inside out and edged.

Option three.

The bodice is single, regilin is adjusted for allowances near the seams connecting the details. The top cut is processed by turning.

A sundress cutting option available for beginners

We cut out the facings according to the patterns of the bodice from dublerin without seam allowances.

The seam allowances for the details of the bodice along the bottom will be 3-4 cm, the rest - 1 cm.

Let me remind you that a large allowance for the bottom of the bodice is needed not only at the time of the fitting, especially if you are sewing a dress from natural cotton fabric.

It is possible that the product will shrink after washing and then the bodice can be lengthened due to this allowance.

If a tight bottom is needed, then a petticoat may be optional. Just the bottom can be treated with soft regilin - see sewing video tutorial.

More precisely, it can consist of one or several skirts.

On the last photo You see a white “base” skirt with frills sewn to it (shirred strips of fabric).

So that the frills do not make the skirt of the sundress bumpy, two more skirts from a more rigid “mesh” of the same cut as the “base” skirt are desirable on top.

And, in conclusion, a few words about the decorative belt.

That is, we pin the bodice on the mannequin, and the belt on the “upper” bodice, forming and fixing each fold with pins.
