That is, the sleeve can be long, 3/4 and short. And the tuck on the collar is useful to everyone for whom the distribution of the fit of the sleeve when tucking in is a problem.

Well-draped dress fabrics are suitable for sewing, but thin and medium thicknesses are preferred.

For example, from the silk assortment, chiffon, crepe chiffon, satin and thin silk are suitable.

True, there is a "but" - it is better to make a transparent chiffon dress in two layers and this can create additional complexity for inexperienced tailors.

Stretch fabrics and dress wool are also suitable.

Thin linen and cotton fabrics can be considered less suitable, since many of them do not drape well and wrinkle quite strongly. And completely unsuitable for this style are jeans and jacquard.

How to cut a dress with your own hands a trapezoid on a yoke

Beginningm with thinking about processing the neck.

If this is a facing, we cut it out of doubler without allowances for seams according to ready-made patterns. If the fastener is in the middle seam, then we cut out the usual facing 4 cm wide (Fig. 2 on the left).

But, if you need a clasp in the shape of a drop, heart or other intricate figure, the facing should repeat its shape (Fig. 2 on the right).

If the yokes are double and/or you will be edging the neckline with a bias piping, there is no need to cut out the facings.

Having decided on the neck, you can start cutting.

Let me remind you that seam allowances are not added along the sleeve hem, sprout and neck. The rest - 1 cm. And for the stretch, which is planned to be sewn with a knitted seam, allowances are generally not needed.

Let's get back to cutting. There are two most likely layouts.

Option one: the middle seam is only on the back yoke (Fig. 3). This is useful if you want to process a very simple fastener in this seam (stitch a fragment of the seam and iron it).

Option two: "jack" - the middle seam passes through both parts of the back. Suitable if you need a long "lightning" in the middle seam.

How to sew this dress step by step for beginners

1. First, the shelf and back are “gathered”, the tucks on the sleeve are grinded.
2. Seams and darts are overcast and ironed.
3. The clasp of your choice is being processed (“spread” in the seam, “drop” or “zipper”).
4. Then, the side and shoulder seams of the dress are folded over and the fitting follows.
